⁴⁹ But one of them, ^(A)Caiaphas, ^(B)who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all.

¹³ First they ^(A)led him to ^(B)Annas, for he was the father-in-law of ^(C)Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. ¹⁴ It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews ^(D)that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people.

⁵¹ He did not say this of his own accord, but ^(A)being high priest that year ^(B)he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

^3 (A)Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in ^(B)the palace of the high priest, whose name was ^(C)Caiaphas,

⁶ with ^(A)Annas the high priest and ^(B)Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family.

² during ^(A)the high priesthood of Annas and ^(B)Caiaphas, ^(C)the word of God came to ^(D)John the son of Zechariah in ^(E)the wilderness.

^18 (A)Let no one deceive himself. ^(B)If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. ¹⁹ For ^(C)the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, ^(D)“He catches the wise in their craftiness,”

Wisdom from the Spirit

⁶ Yet among ^(A)the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not ^(B)a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, ^(C)who are doomed to pass away.
