³⁸ Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, ^(A)“What are you seeking?” And they said to him, ^(B)“Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?”

⁷ So he asked them again, ^(A)“Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

² This man came to Jesus^{[a] (A)}by night and said to him, ^(B)“Rabbi, ^(C)we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do ^(D)unless God is with him.”

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, ^(A)“Rabbi, ^(B)you are the Son of God! You are the ^(C)King of Israel!”

⁴ Then Jesus, ^(A)knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, ^(B)“Whom do you seek?”

²⁵ When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, ^(A)“Rabbi, when did you come here?”

²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, ^(A)“Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, ^(B)to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and ^(C)all are going to him.”
