⁷ And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, ^(A)“Let him who is without sin among you ^(B)be the first to throw a stone at her.”

^21 (A)you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? ²² You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you ^(B)rob temples? ²³ You who ^(C)boast in the law ^(D)dishonor God by breaking the law. ²⁴ For, ^(E)as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed ^(F)among the Gentiles because of you.”

²⁵ For circumcision indeed is of value ^(G)if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

Judging Others

7 ^(A)“Judge not, that you be not judged. ^2 (B)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and ^(C)with the measure you use it will be measured to you. ³ Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but ^(D)do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ⁴ Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? ⁵ You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

God's Righteous Judgment

2 Therefore you have ^(A)no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For ^(B)in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. ² We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. ³ Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?

^6 (A)On the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. ^7 (B)The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. So ^(C)you shall purge^[a] the evil^[b] from your midst.
