Scripture Fulfilled—It Is Finished

28 After this, Jesus, (A)knowing that all things had already been finished, (B)in order [a]to finish the Scripture, *said, (C)I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so (D)they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, (E)It is finished!” And bowing His head, He (F)gave up His spirit.

The Death of Jesus(A)

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished,(B) and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,(C) Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar(D) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(E) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
