John 19:19-21
Young's Literal Translation
19 And Pilate also wrote a title, and put [it] on the cross, and it was written, `Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews;'
20 this title, therefore, read many of the Jews, because the place was nigh to the city where Jesus was crucified, and it was having been written in Hebrew, in Greek, in Roman.
21 The chief priests of the Jews said, therefore, to Pilate, `Write not -- The king of the Jews, but that one said, I am king of the Jews;'

New International Version
19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth,(A) the king of the jews.(B) 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city,(C) and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”(D)
