John 17:20-26 Wycliffe Bible (WYC)

20 And I pray not only for them, but also for them that shall believe into me by the word of them;

21 that all be one [that all they be one], as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee, that also they in us be one; that the world believe, that thou hast sent me.

22 And I have given to them the clearness, that thou hast given to me, that they be one, as we be one;

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they be ended into one; and that the world know, that thou sentest me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved also me.

24 Father, they which thou hast given to me, I will that where I am, that they be with me, that they see my clearness, that thou hast given to me [Father, I will that and they whom thou hast given to me, be with me where I am, that they see my clearness, which thou hast given to me]; for thou lovedest me before the making of the world.

25 Father, rightfully the world knew thee not [Rightful Father, the world knew not thee], but I knew thee, and these knew, that thou sentest me.

26 And I have made thy name known to them, and shall make known; that the love by which thou hast loved me, be in them, and I in them.

John 17:20-26 New Matthew Bible (NMB)

20 I pray not for them alone, but also for those who will believe on me through their preaching: 21 that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you; that they may also be one in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 And the glory that you gave me, I have given them, so that they may be one as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, so that they may be made perfect in one, and so that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them as you have loved me.

24 Father, I will that those whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see the glory that you have given me. For you loved me before the making of the world. 25 O righteous Father, the very world has not known you, but I have known you, and these have known that you have sent me. 26 And I have declared to them your name, and will declare it, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and so that I may be in them.

John 17:20-26 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)

20 [a]I pray not for these alone, but for them also which shall believe in me, through their word,

21 That they all may be one, as thou, O Father, art in me, and I in thee: even that they may be also one in us, that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory that thou gavest me, I have given them, that they may be one, as we are one,

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me.

24 Father, I will that they which thou hast given me, be with me even where I am, that they may behold that my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

25 O righteous Father, the world also hath not known thee, but I have known thee, and these have known, that thou hast sent me.

26 [b]And I have declared unto them thy Name, and will declare it, that the love wherewith thou hast loved me, may be in them, and I in them.

  1. John 17:20 Secondarily he offereth to God the Father, all his, that is, how many soever shall believe in him by the doctrine of the Apostles: that as he cleaveth unto the Father receiving from him all fullness, so they being joined with him, may receive life from him, and at length being together beloved in him, may also with him enjoy everlasting glory.
  2. John 17:26 He communicateth with his by little and little, the knowledge of the Father, which is most full in Christ the Mediator, that they may in him be beloved of the Father, with the selfsame love wherewith he loveth the Son.
