Jesus Reveals the Father
8 “Lord,” said Philip,(A) “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time and you do not know me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father.(B) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?(C) The words I speak to you I do not speak on my own.(D) The Father who lives in me does his works.(E) 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe[a] because of the works themselves.(F)
Praying in Jesus’s Name
12 “Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me(G) will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these,(H) because I am going to the Father.(I) 13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified(J) in the Son.(K) 14 If you ask me[b] anything in my name,(L) I will do it.[c](M)
Another Counselor Promised
15 “If you love me, you will keep[d] my commands.(N) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor[e](O) to be with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit(P) of truth.(Q) The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be[f] in you.(R)

John 14:8-17
New International Version
8 Philip(A) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(B) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?(C) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.(D) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.(E) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes(F) in me will do the works I have been doing,(G) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask(H) in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands.(I) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate(J) to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.(K) The world cannot accept him,(L) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you.
