⁴Nangunguha sila ng usbong ng halaman sa dawagan,
    at ugat ng mga tambo ang panlaman nila sa tiyan.
⁵Ang mga taong ito'y itinakwil ng lipunan,
    at ang turing sa kanila'y mistulang mga tulisan.
⁶Mga kuweba't mga kanal ang kanilang tinitirhan,
    ang iba nama'y sa lungga, at ang iba'y sa batuhan.

⁴In the brush they gathered salt herbs,^(A)
    and their food^[a] was the root of the broom bush.^(B)
⁵They were banished from human society,
    shouted at as if they were thieves.
⁶They were forced to live in the dry stream beds,
    among the rocks and in holes in the ground.^(C)
