⁵ Is not your wickedness great?
    There is no end to your iniquities.^(A)

¹² For evils have encompassed me
    without number;
my iniquities have overtaken me
    until I cannot see;
they are more than the hairs of my head,
    and my heart fails me.^(A)

¹² But who can detect one’s own errors?
    Clear me from hidden faults.^(A)

³¹ Let them not trust in emptiness, deceiving themselves,
    for emptiness will be their recompense.^(A)
32 It will be paid in full before their time,
    and their branch will not be green.^(B)
33 They will shake off their unripe grape, like the vine,
    and cast off their blossoms, like the olive tree.^(C)
34 For the company of the godless is barren,
    and fire consumes the tents of bribery.^(D)

⁵ For your iniquity teaches your mouth,
    and you choose the tongue of the crafty.^(A)
6 Your own mouth condemns you, not I;
    your own lips testify against you.^(B)

¹⁴ If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away,
    and do not let wickedness reside in your tents.^(A)

⁶ and that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom!
    For wisdom is many-sided.^[a]
Know then that God exacts of you less than your guilt deserves.^(A)
