⁹ His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity?^(A) Curse God and die!”^(B)

⁵ But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones,^(A) and he will surely curse you to your face.”^(B)

³ Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.^(A) And he still maintains his integrity,^(B) though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”^(C)

¹⁴ “You have said, ‘It is futile^(A) to serve^(B) God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements^(C) and going about like mourners^(D) before the Lord Almighty?

⁶ When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable^(A) for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband,^(B) who was with her, and he ate it.^(C)

¹¹ But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has,^(A) and he will surely curse you to your face.”^(B)

³³ While he was still talking to them, the messenger came down to him.

The king said, “This disaster is from the Lord. Why should I wait^(A) for the Lord any longer?”

¹² The man said, “The woman you put here with me^(A)—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
