⁸ And he has shriveled me up,
    which is ^(A)a witness against me,
and my ^(B)leanness has risen up against me;
    it testifies to my face.

¹⁷ You renew your ^(A)witnesses against me
    and increase your vexation toward me;
    you ^(B)bring fresh troops against me.

²⁰ My ^(A)bones stick to my skin and to my flesh,
    and I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

²⁴ My knees are weak ^(A)through fasting;
    my ^(B)body has become gaunt, with no fat.

^16 (A)From the ends of the earth we hear songs of praise,
    of glory to ^(B)the Righteous One.
But I say, “I waste away,
    I waste away. Woe is me!
For ^(C)the traitors have betrayed,
    with betrayal the traitors have betrayed.”

¹⁶ Therefore the Lord God of hosts
    will send wasting sickness among his ^(A)stout warriors,
and under his glory ^(B)a burning will be kindled,
    like the burning of fire.

¹⁵ he ^(A)gave them what they asked,
    but sent ^(B)a wasting disease among them.
