²⁰ He deprives of speech those who are trusted
    and takes away the discernment of the elders.^(A)

⁹ It is not the old^[a] who are wise
    nor the aged who understand what is right.^(A)

⁴ Since you have closed their minds to understanding,
    therefore you will not let them triumph.^(A)

²⁴ He strips understanding from the leaders^[a] of the earth
    and makes them wander in a pathless waste.^(A)

²² Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
    but those who act faithfully are his delight.^(A)

¹⁹ Truthful lips endure forever,
    but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.^(A)

²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many,
    but fools die for lack of sense.

¹⁷ because God has made it forget wisdom
    and given it no share in understanding.^(A)
