⁸You have been placing your trust in deceitful words that are completely worthless. ⁹Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, engage in perjury, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods about whom you know nothing, ¹⁰and then come and stand before me in this house which bears my name and say, “We are safe,” all the while intending to continue doing these abominable deeds?
