20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men and women—even to all the people who were answering him with such a word—saying, 21 “As for the [a](A)smoking sacrifices that you offered in the cities of Judah and in the (B)streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not Yahweh (C)remember them and did not all this come upon His heart? 22 So Yahweh was (D)no longer able to bear it, (E)because of the evil of your deeds, because of the abominations which you have done; thus your land has become a (F)waste place, an object of horror, and an imprecation, without an inhabitant, as it is this day. 23 Because you have burned incense and have sinned against Yahweh and (G)not listened to the voice of Yahweh or (H)walked in His law, His statutes, or His testimonies, therefore this (I)evil has befallen you, as it has this day.”

20 But Jeremiah responded to all the people—the men, women, and all the people who were answering him: 21 “As for the incense you burned in Judah’s cities(A) and in Jerusalem’s streets—you, your ancestors, your kings, your officials, and the people of the land—did the Lord not remember them? He brought this to mind. 22 The Lord can no longer bear your evil deeds and the detestable acts you have committed,(B) so your land has become a waste, a desolation, and an example for cursing, without inhabitant, as you see today. 23 Because you burned incense and sinned against the Lord and didn’t obey the Lord(C) and didn’t follow his instruction, his statutes, and his testimonies, this disaster has come to you, as you see today.”
