Now it happened that at the (A)end of ten days the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah. Then he called for Johanan the son of Kareah and all the [a]commanders of the military forces that were with him, and for all the people both small and great, and said to them, “Thus (B)says Yahweh the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before Him: 10 ‘If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will (C)build you up and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not uproot you; for I have [b](D)relented of the calamity that I have done against you. 11 (E)Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you are now fearing; do not be afraid of him,’ declares Yahweh, ‘for (F)I am with you to save you and deliver you from his hand. 12 I will also show you compassion, so that (G)he will have compassion on you and return you to your own soil. 13 But if you are going to say, “We will (H)not stay in this land,” so as not to listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, 14 saying, “No, but we will (I)go to the land of Egypt, where we will not see war or (J)hear the sound of a trumpet or hunger for bread, and we will stay there,” 15 then now, listen to the word of Yahweh, O remnant of Judah. Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “If you really set your face to enter (K)Egypt, and you will enter to sojourn there, 16 then the (L)sword, which you are afraid of, will overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine, about which you are anxious, will [c]follow closely after you there in Egypt, and you will die there. 17 So all the men who set their face to go to Egypt to sojourn there will die by the (M)sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and they will (N)have no survivors or any who escaped from the calamity that I am going to bring on them.”’”

18 For thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “As My (O)anger and wrath have been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so My wrath will be poured out on you when you enter Egypt. And you will become a (P)curse, an object of horror, an imprecation, and a reproach; and (Q)you will see this place no more.”

And it came to pass after ten days, that the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah. Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, and said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to [a]present your supplication before him: 10 If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you. 11 Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith Jehovah: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand. 12 And I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land. 13 But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land; so that ye obey not the voice of Jehovah your God, 14 saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell: 15 now therefore hear ye the word of Jehovah, O remnant of Judah: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, If ye indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there; 16 then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine, whereof ye are afraid, [b]shall follow hard after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die. 17 So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there: they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.

18 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: As mine anger and my wrath hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my wrath be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt; and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.
