^16 (A)Moreover, he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he ^(B)cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses. ^(C)Yahweh has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’

¹⁷ So all the men who set their face to go to Egypt to sojourn there will die by the ^(A)sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and they will ^(B)have no survivors or any who escaped from the calamity that I am going to bring on them.”’”

¹² And I will ^(A)take away the remnant of Judah who have set their face on entering the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they will all ^[a](B)meet their end in the land of Egypt; they will fall by the sword and ^[b]meet their end by famine. Both small and great will die by the sword and famine; and they will become a ^(C)curse, an object of horror, an imprecation, and a reproach. ¹³ And I will ^(D)punish those who live in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence. ¹⁴ So there will be ^(E)no one who escapes or any survivors for the remnant of Judah who have entered the land of Egypt to sojourn there and then to return to the land of Judah, to which they are ^[c](F)longing to return to live; for none will ^(G)return except a few who escape.’”
