⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery and swear while lying, and ^(A)burn incense to Baal and walk after ^(B)other gods that you have not known, ¹⁰ then ^(C)come and stand before Me in ^(D)this house, which is called by My name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—that you may do all these abominations?

¹⁷ Are you not seeing what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? ¹⁸ The ^[a]children gather wood, and the fathers make the fire burn, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they ^(A)pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to ^(B)provoke Me.

¹⁷ But rather we will certainly ^(A)carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, ^[a]by burning incense to the ^(B)queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as ^(C)we ourselves, our fathers, our kings, and our princes did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had ^(D)plenty of ^[b]food and were well off and saw no evil.

²¹ “As for the ^[a](A)smoking sacrifices that you offered in the cities of Judah and in the ^(B)streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not Yahweh ^(C)remember them and did not all this come upon His heart?
