⁷ Then afterwards,” declares the Lord, “^(A)I will give over Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even those who survive in this city from the pestilence, the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their foes and into the hand of those who seek their lives; and he will strike them down with the edge of the sword. He ^(B)will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.”’

⁸ ‘But like the ^(A)bad figs which cannot be eaten due to rottenness—indeed, thus says the Lord—so I will ^[a]abandon ^(B)Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials, and the ^(C)remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land and the ones who dwell in the land of ^(D)Egypt.

¹² The ^(A)prince who is among them will load his baggage on his shoulder in the dark and go out. ^[a]They will dig a hole through the wall to bring it out. He will cover his face so that he can not see the land with his eyes. ¹³ I will also spread My ^(B)net over him, and he will be caught in My snare. And I will bring him to Babylon in the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will ^(C)not see it, though he will die there.

¹⁹ Therefore, thus says the Lord God, “As I live, surely My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will ^[a]inflict on his head. ²⁰ I will spread My ^(A)net over him, and he will be ^(B)caught in My snare. Then I will bring him to Babylon and ^(C)enter into judgment with him there regarding the unfaithful act which he has committed against Me.
