Jeremeia 42
Beibl William Morgan
42 Felly holl dywysogion y llu, a Johanan mab Carea, a Jesaneia mab Hosaia, a’r holl bobl, o fychan hyd fawr, a nesasant, 2 Ac a ddywedasant wrth Jeremeia y proffwyd, Atolwg, gwrando ein deisyfiad ni, a gweddïa drosom ni ar yr Arglwydd dy Dduw, sef dros yr holl weddill hyn; (canys nyni a adawyd o lawer yn ychydig, fel y mae dy lygaid yn ein gweled ni;) 3 Fel y dangoso yr Arglwydd dy Dduw i ni y ffordd y mae i ni rodio ynddi, a’r peth a wnelom. 4 Yna Jeremeia y proffwyd a ddywedodd wrthynt, Myfi a’ch clywais chwi; wele, mi a weddïaf ar yr Arglwydd eich Duw yn ôl eich geiriau chwi, a pheth bynnag a ddywedo yr Arglwydd amdanoch, myfi a’i mynegaf i chwi: nid ataliaf ddim oddi wrthych. 5 A hwy a ddywedasant wrth Jeremeia, Yr Arglwydd fyddo dyst cywir a ffyddlon rhyngom ni, onis gwnawn yn ôl pob gair a anfono yr Arglwydd dy Dduw gyda thi atom ni. 6 Os da neu os drwg fydd, ar lais yr Arglwydd ein Duw, yr hwn yr ydym ni yn dy anfon ato, y gwrandawn ni; fel y byddo da i ni, pan wrandawom ar lais yr Arglwydd ein Duw.
7 Ac ymhen y deng niwrnod y daeth gair yr Arglwydd at Jeremeia. 8 Yna efe a alwodd ar Johanan mab Carea, ac ar holl dywysogion y llu y rhai oedd gydag ef, ac ar yr holl bobl o fychan hyd fawr, 9 Ac a ddywedodd wrthynt, Fel hyn y dywed yr Arglwydd, Duw Israel, yr hwn yr anfonasoch fi ato i roddi i lawr eich gweddïau ger ei fron ef; 10 Os trigwch chwi yn wastad yn y wlad hon, myfi a’ch adeiladaf chwi, ac nis tynnaf i lawr, myfi a’ch plannaf chwi, ac nis diwreiddiaf: oblegid y mae yn edifar gennyf am y drwg a wneuthum i chwi. 11 Nac ofnwch rhag brenin Babilon, yr hwn y mae arnoch ei ofn; nac ofnwch ef, medd yr Arglwydd: canys myfi a fyddaf gyda chwi i’ch achub, ac i’ch gwaredu chwi o’i law ef. 12 A mi a roddaf i chwi drugaredd, fel y trugarhao efe wrthych, ac y dygo chwi drachefn i’ch gwlad eich hun.
13 Ond os dywedwch, Ni thrigwn ni yn y wlad hon, heb wrando ar lais yr Arglwydd eich Duw, 14 Gan ddywedyd, Nage: ond i wlad yr Aifft yr awn ni, lle ni welwn ryfel, ac ni chlywn sain utgorn, ac ni bydd arnom newyn bara, ac yno y trigwn ni: 15 Am hynny, O gweddill Jwda, gwrandewch yn awr air yr Arglwydd Fel hyn y dywed Arglwydd y lluoedd, Duw Israel; Os chwi gan osod a osodwch eich wynebau i fyned i’r Aifft, ac a ewch i ymdeithio yno, 16 Yna y bydd i’r cleddyf, yr hwn yr ydych yn ei ofni, eich goddiwes chwi yno yn nhir yr Aifft; a’r newyn yr hwn yr ydych yn gofalu rhagddo, a’ch dilyn chwi yn yr Aifft; ac yno y byddwch feirw. 17 Felly y bydd i’r holl wŷr a osodasant eu hwynebau i fyned i’r Aifft, i aros yno, hwy a leddir â’r cleddyf, â newyn, ac â haint: ac ni bydd un ohonynt yng ngweddill, neu yn ddihangol, gan y dialedd a ddygaf fi arnynt. 18 Canys fel hyn y dywed Arglwydd y lluoedd, Duw Israel; Megis y tywalltwyd fy llid a’m digofaint ar breswylwyr Jerwsalem; felly y tywelltir fy nigofaint arnoch chwithau, pan ddeloch i’r Aifft: a chwi a fyddwch yn felltith, ac yn syndod, ac yn rheg, ac yn warth, ac ni chewch weled y lle hwn mwyach.
19 O gweddill Jwda, yr Arglwydd a ddywedodd amdanoch, Nac ewch i’r Aifft: gwybyddwch yn hysbys i mi eich rhybuddio chwi heddiw. 20 Canys rhagrithiasoch yn eich calonnau, wrth fy anfon i at yr Arglwydd eich Duw, gan ddywedyd, Gweddïa drosom ni ar yr Arglwydd ein Duw, a mynega i ni yn ôl yr hyn oll a ddywedo yr Arglwydd ein Duw, a nyni a’i gwnawn. 21 A mi a’i mynegais i chwi heddiw, ond ni wrandawsoch ar lais yr Arglwydd eich Duw, nac ar ddim oll a’r y danfonodd efe fi atoch o’i blegid. 22 Ac yn awr gwybyddwch yn hysbys, mai trwy y cleddyf, a thrwy newyn, a thrwy haint, y byddwch chwi feirw yn y lle yr ydych yn ewyllysio myned i ymdeithio ynddo.
Jeremiah 42
New International Version
42 Then all the army officers, including Johanan(A) son of Kareah and Jezaniah[a] son of Hoshaiah,(B) and all the people from the least to the greatest(C) approached 2 Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, “Please hear our petition and pray(D) to the Lord your God for this entire remnant.(E) For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few(F) are left. 3 Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.”(G)
4 “I have heard you,” replied Jeremiah the prophet. “I will certainly pray(H) to the Lord your God as you have requested; I will tell(I) you everything the Lord says and will keep nothing back from you.”(J)
5 Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the Lord be a true(K) and faithful(L) witness(M) against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the Lord your God sends you to tell us. 6 Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well(N) with us, for we will obey(O) the Lord our God.”
7 Ten days later the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah. 8 So he called together Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers(P) who were with him and all the people from the least to the greatest.(Q) 9 He said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition,(R) says:(S) 10 ‘If you stay in this land,(T) I will build(U) you up and not tear you down; I will plant(V) you and not uproot you,(W) for I have relented concerning the disaster I have inflicted on you.(X) 11 Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon,(Y) whom you now fear.(Z) Do not be afraid of him, declares the Lord, for I am with you and will save(AA) you and deliver you from his hands.(AB) 12 I will show you compassion(AC) so that he will have compassion on you and restore you to your land.’(AD)
13 “However, if you say, ‘We will not stay in this land,’ and so disobey(AE) the Lord your God, 14 and if you say, ‘No, we will go and live in Egypt,(AF) where we will not see war or hear the trumpet(AG) or be hungry for bread,’(AH) 15 then hear the word of the Lord,(AI) you remnant of Judah. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you are determined to go to Egypt and you do go to settle there, 16 then the sword(AJ) you fear(AK) will overtake you there, and the famine(AL) you dread will follow you into Egypt, and there you will die.(AM) 17 Indeed, all who are determined to go to Egypt to settle there will die by the sword, famine and plague;(AN) not one of them will survive or escape the disaster I will bring on them.’ 18 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and wrath(AO) have been poured out on those who lived in Jerusalem,(AP) so will my wrath be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. You will be a curse[b](AQ) and an object of horror,(AR) a curse[c] and an object of reproach;(AS) you will never see this place again.’(AT)
19 “Remnant(AU) of Judah, the Lord has told you, ‘Do not go to Egypt.’(AV) Be sure of this: I warn you today 20 that you made a fatal mistake when you sent me to the Lord your God and said, ‘Pray to the Lord our God for us; tell us everything he says and we will do it.’(AW) 21 I have told you today, but you still have not obeyed the Lord your God in all he sent me to tell you.(AX) 22 So now, be sure of this: You will die by the sword, famine(AY) and plague(AZ) in the place where you want to go to settle.”(BA)
