^9 (A)that everyone should set free his Hebrew slaves, male and female, ^(B)so that no one should enslave a Jew, his brother.

^5 (A)circumcised on the eighth day, ^(B)of the people of Israel, ^(C)of the tribe of Benjamin, ^(D)a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, ^(E)a Pharisee;

²² Are they Hebrews? ^(A)So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they offspring of Abraham? So am I.

⁸ But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even ^(A)your own brothers!^[a]

¹⁰ And they obeyed, all the officials and all the people who had entered into the covenant that everyone would set free his slave, male or female, so that they would not be enslaved again. They obeyed and set them free.

⁸ “And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the Lord of hosts, that I will ^(A)break his ^(B)yoke from off your neck, and I will ^(C)burst your bonds, ^(D)and foreigners shall no more make a servant of him.^[a]

^7 (A)All the nations shall serve him and ^(B)his son and ^(C)his grandson, ^(D)until the time of his own land comes. ^(E)Then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.

^14 (A)For many nations ^(B)and great kings shall make slaves even of them, ^(C)and I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”

¹¹ So both of them showed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines. And the Philistines said, “Look, Hebrews are coming ^(A)out of the holes where they have hidden themselves.”

^9 (A)Take courage, and be men, O Philistines, lest you become slaves to the Hebrews ^(B)as they have been to you; be men and fight.”
