¹² Then Jeremiah said to all the officials^(A) and all the people: “The Lord sent me to prophesy^(B) against this house and this city all the things you have heard.^(C)

²⁹ Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!^(A)

¹⁹ But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him?^(A) You be the judges!

¹⁵ Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood^(A) on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words^(B) in your hearing.”

² “This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard^(A) of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord.^(B) Tell^(C) them everything I command you; do not omit^(D) a word.

¹⁷ “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say^(A) to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified^(B) by them, or I will terrify you before them. ¹⁸ Today I have made you^(C) a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land.

¹⁵ But the Lord took me from tending the flock^(A) and said to me, ‘Go,^(B) prophesy^(C) to my people Israel.’^{(D) 16} Now then, hear^(E) the word of the Lord. You say,

¹⁷ “Therefore this is what the Lord says:

19 This is what the Lord says: “Go and buy a clay jar from a potter.^(A) Take along some of the elders^(B) of the people and of the priests ² and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom,^(C) near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There proclaim the words I tell you, ³ and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, you kings^(D) of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Listen! I am going to bring a disaster^(E) on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle.^(F)
