⁷ If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will ^(A)pluck up and break down and destroy it,

⁴ Thus shall you say to him, Thus says the Lord: ^(A)Behold, what I have built I am breaking down, and what I have planted I am plucking up—that is, the whole land.

¹⁴ Thus says the Lord concerning all ^(A)my evil neighbors ^(B)who touch the heritage that ^(C)I have given my people Israel to inherit: “Behold, I will pluck them up from their land, and I will pluck up the house of Judah from among them. ¹⁵ And after I have plucked them up, I will again have compassion on them, ^(D)and I will bring them again each to his heritage and each to his land. ¹⁶ And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, ^(E)to swear by my name, ‘As the Lord lives,’ even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, ^(F)then they shall be built up in the midst of my people. ^17 (G)But if any nation will not listen, then I will utterly pluck it up and destroy it, declares the Lord.”

⁴ Jonah began to go into the city, going a day's journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!”

^9 (A)behold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, declares the Lord, and for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, ^(B)my servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations. I will devote them to destruction, ^(C)and make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting desolation. ¹⁰ Moreover, ^(D)I will banish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, ^(E)the grinding of the millstones and ^(F)the light of the lamp. ^11 (G)This whole land shall become a ruin and a waste, and ^(H)these nations shall serve the king of Babylon ^(I)seventy years. ¹² Then after ^(J)seventy years are completed, ^(K)I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, ^(L)the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, declares the Lord, ^(M)making the land an everlasting waste. ¹³ I will bring upon that land all the words that I have uttered against it, everything written ^(N)in this book, which Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations. ^14 (O)For many nations ^(P)and great kings shall make slaves even of them, ^(Q)and I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”
