Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers(A) who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries(B) of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.(C) You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves(D) in the day of slaughter.[a](E) You have condemned and murdered(F) the innocent one,(G) who was not opposing you.

Patience in Suffering

Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.(H) See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting(I) for the autumn and spring rains.(J) You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming(K) is near.(L) Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters,(M) or you will be judged. The Judge(N) is standing at the door!(O)

10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets(P) who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we count as blessed(Q) those who have persevered. 1. James 5:5 Or yourselves as in a day of feasting

Indeed (A)the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and (B)the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of [a]Sabaoth. You have lived on the earth in pleasure and [b]luxury; you have [c]fattened your hearts [d]as in a day of slaughter. You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you.

Be Patient and Persevering

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord [e]is at hand.

Do not [f]grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be [g]condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! 10 (C)My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and (D)patience. 11 Indeed (E)we count them blessed who (F)endure. You have heard of (G)the perseverance of Job and seen (H)the end intended by the Lord—that (I)the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
