Ostrzeżenie dla bogatych
5 Teraz posłuchajcie wy, nieuczciwi bogacze: Nadchodzi dla was czas płaczu i nieszczęścia. 2 Wasze bogactwo traci wartość, a wasze drogie ubrania zjadają mole. 3 Wasze srebro i złoto pokrywa się śniedzią, która będzie dowodem przeciwko wam i będzie was palić jak ogień. Zgromadziliście bogactwo, ale czas tego świata się kończy. 4 Pieniądze, których nie zapłaciliście robotnikom pracującym na waszych polach, są teraz dowodem przeciwko wam. Pan w niebie usłyszał bowiem ich rozpaczliwe wołanie o pomoc. 5 Żyliście tu na ziemi w dobrobycie i luksusie. Teraz jednak jesteście jak utuczone zwierzęta, prowadzone na ubój. 6 Skazaliście i zabiliście prawych ludzi, którzy nie byli nawet w stanie się bronić.
Wytrwałość w cierpieniu
7 Przyjaciele, bądźcie cierpliwi, oczekując powrotu naszego Pana. Rolnik musi cierpliwie czekać na swe cenne plony, aż nadejdzie pora żniw. 8 Bądźcie więc i wy cierpliwi. Nabierzcie odwagi, bo czas nadejścia Pana jest już bliski. 9 Nie narzekajcie też jedni na drugich, bo zostaniecie za to osądzeni. Sędzia stoi już przed drzwiami!
10 Niech dawni prorocy, którzy przemawiali w imieniu Pana, będą dla was wzorem wytrwałości i cierpliwości. 11 Uważamy przecież za szczęśliwych tych, którzy wytrwali w cierpieniach. Słyszeliście o wytrwałości Hioba i wiecie, jak Pan uwolnił go w końcu od cierpienia. On jest bowiem pełen współczucia i miłości.
12 Moi przyjaciele, chciałbym dać wam jeszcze jedną, bardzo ważną radę: Nie przysięgajcie—ani na niebo, ani na ziemię, ani na cokolwiek innego. Mówcie po prostu „tak” lub „nie”, abyście nie zgrzeszyli i nie zostali ukarani przez Boga.
Modlitwa z wiarą
13 Jeśli ktoś z was cierpi, niech się modli. Jeśli ktoś jest pełen radości, niech uwielbia Pana, śpiewając Mu pieśni. 14 Jeśli ktoś choruje, niech wezwie starszych kościoła, aby się za niego modlili, namaszczając go olejem w imieniu Pana. 15 Ich modlitwa, wypowiedziana z wiarą, uleczy chorego i Pan przywróci mu zdrowie. A jeśli chory zgrzeszył, Bóg mu przebaczy. 16 Wyznawajcie jedni drugim swoje grzechy i módlcie się za siebie, abyście byli uzdrowieni. Modlitwa prawego człowieka ma bowiem wielką moc.
17 Eliasz, mimo że był zwykłym człowiekiem, modlił się, aby nie padało. I został wysłuchany: przez trzy i pół roku nie było deszczu! 18 Potem modlił się o deszcz i znów Bóg wysłuchał jego modlitwy: zaczęło padać i ziemia wydała plony.
19-20 Moi przyjaciele, jeśli ktoś z was zabłądzi i zejdzie z drogi prawdy, pomóżcie mu wrócić do Boga! Czyniąc to, uratujecie go od śmierci i przyczynicie się do przebaczenia wielu jego grzechów.

2 Wasze bogactwo zgniło, a wasze szaty zjadły mole.
3 Wasze złoto i srebro zardzewiało, a ich rdza będzie świadczyła przeciwko wam i strawi wasze ciała jak ogień. Nagromadziliście skarby na ostatnie dni.
4 Oto zapłata robotników, którzy żęli wasze pola, zatrzymana przez was, krzyczy, a krzyk żniwiarzy doszedł do uszu Pana zastępów.
5 Żyliście w rozkoszach i zbytku na ziemi, utuczyliście wasze serca jak na dzień rzezi.
6 Skazaliście i zabiliście sprawiedliwego, a on nie stawia wam oporu.
7 Bądźcie więc cierpliwi, bracia, aż do przyjścia Pana. Oto rolnik cierpliwie czeka na cenny plon ziemi, dopóki nie spadnie deszcz wczesny i późny.
8 Bądźcie i wy cierpliwi i umacniajcie swoje serca, bo przyjście Pana jest bliskie.
9 Bracia, nie narzekajcie jedni na drugich, abyście nie zostali osądzeni. Oto sędzia stoi przed drzwiami.
10 Weźcie za przykład, moi bracia, utrapienia i cierpliwość proroków, którzy mówili w imieniu Pana.
11 Oto za błogosławionych uważamy tych, którzy wytrwali. Słyszeliście o cierpliwości Hioba i widzieliście koniec przygotowany przez Pana, że Pan jest pełen litości i miłosierdzia.
12 A przede wszystkim, moi bracia, nie przysięgajcie ani na niebo, ani na ziemię, ani nie składajcie żadnej innej przysięgi. Lecz niech wasze „tak” będzie „tak”, a „nie” niech będzie „nie”, abyście nie byli sądzeni.
13 Cierpi ktoś wśród was? Niech się modli. Raduje się ktoś? Niech śpiewa.
14 Choruje ktoś wśród was? Niech przywoła starszych kościoła i niech się modlą nad nim, namaszczając go olejem w imię Pana.
15 A modlitwa wiary uzdrowi chorego i Pan go podźwignie. Jeśli zaś popełnił grzechy, będą mu przebaczone.
16 Wyznawajcie sobie nawzajem upadki i módlcie się jedni za drugich, abyście byli uzdrowieni. Wiele może usilna modlitwa sprawiedliwego.
17 Eliasz był człowiekiem podlegającym tym samym doznaniom co my i modlił się gorliwie, żeby nie padał deszcz, i nie spadł deszcz na ziemię przez trzy lata i sześć miesięcy.
18 Potem znowu się modlił i niebo spuściło deszcz, i ziemia wydała swój plon.
19 Bracia, jeśli ktoś z was zejdzie z drogi prawdy, a ktoś go nawróci;
20 Niech wie, że kto nawróci grzesznika z jego błędnej drogi, wybawi duszę od śmierci i zakryje mnóstwo grzechów.

Warning to Rich Oppressors
5 Now listen,(A) you rich people,(B) weep and wail(C) because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.(D) 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.(E) 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers(F) who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries(G) of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.(H) 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves(I) in the day of slaughter.[a](J) 6 You have condemned and murdered(K) the innocent one,(L) who was not opposing you.
Patience in Suffering
7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.(M) See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting(N) for the autumn and spring rains.(O) 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming(P) is near.(Q) 9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters,(R) or you will be judged. The Judge(S) is standing at the door!(T)
10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets(U) who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we count as blessed(V) those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance(W) and have seen what the Lord finally brought about.(X) The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.(Y)
12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.(Z)
The Prayer of Faith
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray.(AA) Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.(AB) 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders(AC) of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil(AD) in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith(AE) will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins(AF) to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.(AG) The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.(AH)
17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are.(AI) He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.(AJ) 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.(AK)
19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth(AL) and someone should bring that person back,(AM) 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save(AN) them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.(AO)

5 Pakinggan ninyo ito, kayong mayayaman! Tumangis kayo at humagulgol dahil sa mga kapighatiang darating sa inyo. 2 Bulok(A) na ang inyong mga kayamanan at kinain na ng mapanirang insekto ang inyong mga damit. 3 Kinakalawang(B) na ang inyong ginto at pilak, at ang kalawang ding iyon ang magiging katibayan laban sa inyo at parang apoy na tutupok sa inyong laman. Iyan ang kayamanang inimpok ninyo para sa mga huling araw. 4 Sumisigaw ang mga manggagawa sa inyong mga bukirin dahil hindi ninyo ibinibigay ang kanilang mga sahod. Umabot na sa pandinig ng Panginoong Makapangyarihan sa lahat ang mga hinaing ng mga mang-aani na inyong inapi! 5 Nagpasasa kayo sa kalayawan at karangyaan dito sa lupa. Nagpataba kayong parang mga hayop na kakatayin. 6 Hinatulan(C) ninyo at ipinapatay ang taong matuwid na hindi lumalaban sa inyo.
Pagtitiyaga at Pananalangin
7 Kaya nga, mga kapatid, magtiyaga kayo hanggang sa pagdating ng Panginoon. Tingnan ninyo ang magsasaka. Buong tiyaga niyang hinihintay ang mahalagang ani ng kanyang bukirin, at inaabangan ang pagdating ng tag-ulan. 8 Dapat din kayong magtiyaga. Tibayan ninyo ang inyong loob sapagkat nalalapit na ang pagdating ng Panginoon.
9 Mga kapatid, huwag kayong magreklamo sa isa't isa upang hindi kayo hatulan ng Diyos, sapagkat malapit nang dumating ang Hukom. 10 Mga kapatid, tularan ninyo ang mga propetang nagsalita sa pangalan ng Panginoon. Buong tiyaga silang nagtiis ng kahirapan. 11 Sinasabi(D) nating pinagpala ang mga nagtitiyaga at nagtitiis. Narinig na ninyo ang tungkol sa pagtitiis ni Job at ang ginawa sa kanya ng Panginoon sa bandang huli. Talagang napakabuti at tunay na mahabagin ang Panginoon.
12 Ngunit(E) higit sa lahat, mga kapatid, huwag kayong manunumpa. Huwag ninyong sabihing, “Saksi ko ang langit, o ang lupa, o ang ano pa man.” Sapat nang sabihin ninyo, “Oo” kung oo at “Hindi” kung hindi, upang hindi kayo hatulan ng Diyos.
13 May paghihirap ba ang sinuman sa inyo? Manalangin siya. Nagagalak ba ang sinuman? Umawit siya ng papuri sa Diyos. 14 May sakit ba ang sinuman sa inyo? Ipatawag ninyo ang matatandang pinuno ng iglesya upang ipanalangin siya at pahiran ng langis sa pangalan ng Panginoon. 15 Pagagalingin ng Diyos ang maysakit dahil sa panalanging may pananampalataya; palalakasin siyang muli ng Panginoon. At kung siya'y nagkasala, patatawarin siya sa kanyang mga kasalanan. 16 Kaya(F) nga, ipagtapat ninyo sa inyong mga kapatid ang inyong mga kasalanan at ipanalangin ninyo ang isa't isa, upang kayo'y gumaling. Malaki ang nagagawa ng panalangin ng taong matuwid. 17 Si(G) Elias ay isang tao na tulad din natin; nang mataimtim siyang nanalangin na huwag umulan, hindi nga umulan sa loob ng tatlong taon at anim na buwan. 18 At(H) nang siya'y nanalangin para umulan, bumagsak nga ang ulan at namunga ang mga halaman.
19 Mga kapatid, kung may kapatid kayong nalilihis ng landas at may isa namang umakay sa kanya upang magsisi, 20 ito(I) ang tandaan ninyo: sinumang makapagpabalik sa isang makasalanan mula sa kanyang maling pamumuhay ay nagliligtas ng isang kaluluwa sa kamatayan at nagpapawi ng maraming kasalanan.

5 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
