¹⁰ Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted;^(A)

³⁷ Who can speak and have it happen
    if the Lord has not decreed it?^(A)

¹² He thwarts the plans^(A) of the crafty,
    so that their hands achieve no success.^(B)

“‘It will not take place,
    it will not happen,^(D)

⁵ With one mind they plot together;^(F)
    they form an alliance against you—
⁶ the tents of Edom^(G) and the Ishmaelites,
    of Moab^(H) and the Hagrites,^(I)
7 Byblos,^(J) Ammon^(K) and Amalek,^(L)
    Philistia,^(M) with the people of Tyre.^(N)
8 Even Assyria^(O) has joined them
    to reinforce Lot’s descendants.^[a](P)

⁹ Do to them as you did to Midian,^(Q)
    as you did to Sisera^(R) and Jabin^(S) at the river Kishon,^(T)
10 who perished at Endor^(U)
    and became like dung^(V) on the ground.
¹¹ Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,^(W)
    all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,^(X)
12 who said, “Let us take possession^(Y)
    of the pasturelands of God.”

¹³ Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
    like chaff^(Z) before the wind.
¹⁴ As fire consumes the forest
    or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,^(AA)
15 so pursue them with your tempest^(AB)
    and terrify them with your storm.^(AC)
16 Cover their faces with shame,^(AD) Lord,
    so that they will seek your name.

¹⁷ May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;^(AE)
    may they perish in disgrace.^(AF)
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord^(AG)—
    that you alone are the Most High^(AH) over all the earth.^(AI)

⁷ The Lord Almighty^(A) is with us;^(B)
    the God of Jacob^(C) is our fortress.^(D)

³⁰ There is no wisdom,^(A) no insight, no plan
    that can succeed against the Lord.^(B)
