Isaiah 63
Evangelical Heritage Version
The Day of Vengeance
The Prophet’s Question
63
Who is this coming from Edom, with bright red garments?
Who is this coming from Bozrah, clothed majestically,
marching out[a] with great strength?
The Servant’s Response
It is I, the one who speaks in righteousness.
It is I, the one who is mighty to save.
The Prophet’s Question
2 Why is your clothing so red?
Why are your garments like those of someone
who has been trampling grapes in a winepress?
The Servant’s Response
3 I have trodden the winepress alone,
and from the peoples there was no one with me.
So I stomped on them in my anger,
and I trampled them in my wrath,
and their juice splattered on my garments.
I stained all my clothing.
4 For the day for vengeance was in my heart,
and the year for my redemption has come.
5 I looked intently but there was no helper.
I was shocked that no one supported me.
My arm delivered me,
and my wrath supported me.
6 I trampled the peoples in my anger.
I made them drunk in my wrath,
and I will pour out their juice[b] onto the ground.
Isaiah’s Announcement
7 I will tell about the Lord’s mercies,
about the praises of the Lord,
about all that the Lord has done for us,
about his great goodness to the house of Israel,
which he performed for them according to his abundant compassion,
and according to his great mercy.
8 He said, “Surely they are my people,
children who will not deal falsely,”
so he became their Savior.
9 In all their anguish he felt anguish,[c]
and the Angel of his Presence saved them.
In his love and in his pity he himself redeemed them,
and he took them up and carried them all the days of old.
10 But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit,
so he turned against them and became an enemy.
He himself fought against them.
11 Yet he remembered the days of old,
the days of Moses and his people.
Isaiah’s Plea
Where is the one who brought them up from the sea,
with the shepherds of his flock?
Where is the one who set his Holy Spirit in their midst,
12 who sent his majestic arm to the right hand of Moses,
who divided waters before them
to make an everlasting name for himself,
13 who let them walk through the depths?
Like a horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble.
14 Like cattle that descend into a valley,
they were given rest by the Lord’s Spirit.
This is how you led your people
to make a majestic name for yourself.
15 Gaze down from the heavens and see,
from your holy and beautiful dwelling place.
Where is your zeal and your might?
The feelings of your heart and your compassion
are withheld from me.
16 But you are our Father,
though Abraham does not know us,
though Israel does not acknowledge us.
You, the Lord, are our Father.
Our Redeemer from everlasting is your name.
17 Why do you cause us to wander from your ways, Lord?
Why do you harden our heart so that we do not fear you?
Return for the sake of your servants,
the tribes that are your heritage.
18 For a short time your holy people possessed the land.
Now our adversaries have trampled your sanctuary.
19 We have been your people from ancient times,
but you have not ruled over the other nations.
They were not called by your name.[d]

и се зачудих, че нямаше кой да подкрепя;
деца, които няма да постъпят невярно;
и ангелът на присъствието Му ги избави;
10 (G)Но те се разбунтуваха и оскърбиха Святия Негов Дух;
като добитъка, който слиза в долината;
и да не ни признае Израил;
Ти, Господи, си наш Отец;
18 (O)Малко време го владя Твоят свят народ;
Isaiah 63
New International Version
God’s Day of Vengeance and Redemption
63 Who is this coming from Edom,(A)
from Bozrah,(B) with his garments stained crimson?(C)
Who is this, robed in splendor,
striding forward in the greatness of his strength?(D)
“It is I, proclaiming victory,
mighty to save.”(E)
2 Why are your garments red,
like those of one treading the winepress?(F)
3 “I have trodden the winepress(G) alone;
from the nations no one was with me.
I trampled(H) them in my anger
and trod them down in my wrath;(I)
their blood spattered my garments,(J)
and I stained all my clothing.
4 It was for me the day of vengeance;(K)
the year for me to redeem had come.
5 I looked, but there was no one(L) to help,
I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm(M) achieved salvation for me,
and my own wrath sustained me.(N)
6 I trampled(O) the nations in my anger;
in my wrath I made them drunk(P)
and poured their blood(Q) on the ground.”
Praise and Prayer
7 I will tell of the kindnesses(R) of the Lord,
the deeds for which he is to be praised,
according to all the Lord has done for us—
yes, the many good things(S)
he has done for Israel,
according to his compassion(T) and many kindnesses.
8 He said, “Surely they are my people,(U)
children who will be true to me”;
and so he became their Savior.(V)
9 In all their distress he too was distressed,
and the angel(W) of his presence(X) saved them.[a]
In his love and mercy he redeemed(Y) them;
he lifted them up and carried(Z) them
all the days of old.(AA)
10 Yet they rebelled(AB)
and grieved his Holy Spirit.(AC)
So he turned and became their enemy(AD)
and he himself fought(AE) against them.
11 Then his people recalled[b] the days of old,
the days of Moses and his people—
where is he who brought them through the sea,(AF)
with the shepherd of his flock?(AG)
Where is he who set
his Holy Spirit(AH) among them,
12 who sent his glorious arm(AI) of power
to be at Moses’ right hand,
who divided the waters(AJ) before them,
to gain for himself everlasting renown,(AK)
13 who led(AL) them through the depths?(AM)
Like a horse in open country,
they did not stumble;(AN)
14 like cattle that go down to the plain,
they were given rest(AO) by the Spirit of the Lord.
This is how you guided your people
to make for yourself a glorious name.
15 Look down from heaven(AP) and see,
from your lofty throne,(AQ) holy and glorious.
Where are your zeal(AR) and your might?
Your tenderness and compassion(AS) are withheld(AT) from us.
16 But you are our Father,(AU)
though Abraham does not know us
or Israel acknowledge(AV) us;
you, Lord, are our Father,
our Redeemer(AW) from of old is your name.
17 Why, Lord, do you make us wander(AX) from your ways
and harden our hearts(AY) so we do not revere(AZ) you?
Return(BA) for the sake of your servants,
the tribes that are your inheritance.(BB)
18 For a little while(BC) your people possessed your holy place,
but now our enemies have trampled(BD) down your sanctuary.(BE)
19 We are yours from of old;
but you have not ruled over them,
they have not been called[c] by your name.(BF)

Schlachter 1951
Ein Tag der Rache
63 Wer kommt dort von Edom her,
und von den Völkern stand mir niemand bei;
5 Und ich sah mich um, aber da war kein Helfer;
ich ward stutzig, aber niemand unterstützte mich;
und der Engel seines Angesichts rettete sie;
10 Sie aber widerstrebten und betrübten seinen heiligen Geist;
so brachte der Geist des Herrn sie zur Ruhe;
so hast du dein Volk geführt,
um dir einen ruhmvollen Namen zu machen!
Gebet um Rückkehr des Erlösers
15 Blicke vom Himmel hernieder
16 Und doch bist du unser Vater;
denn Abraham weiß nichts von uns,
und Israel würde uns nicht wiedererkennen;
unsere Feinde haben dein Heiligtum zertreten;
