The Lord’s Word Will Accomplish Its Task
55 “Listen! Whoever is thirsty, come to the water!
Whoever has no money can come, buy, and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk. You don’t have to pay; it’s free!
2 Why do you spend money on what cannot nourish you
and your wages on what does not satisfy you?
Listen carefully to me:
Eat what is good, and enjoy the best foods.
3 Open your ears, and come to me!
Listen so that you may live!
I will make an everlasting promise[a] to you—
the blessings I promised to David.
4 I made him a witness to people,
a leader and a commander for people.
5 You will summon a nation that you don’t know,
and a nation that doesn’t know you will run to you
because of Yahweh your Elohim,
because of Qedosh Yisrael.
He has honored you.”
6 Seek Yahweh while he may be found.
Call on him while he is near.
7 Let wicked people abandon their ways.
Let evil people abandon their thoughts.
Let them return to Yahweh,
and he will show compassion to them.
Let them return to our Elohim,
because he will freely forgive them.
8 “My thoughts are not your thoughts,
and my ways are not your ways,” declares Yahweh.
9 “Just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways,
and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.”
10 “Rain and snow come down from the sky.
They do not go back again until they water the earth.
They make it sprout and grow
so that it produces seed for farmers
and food for people to eat.
11 My word, which comes from my mouth, is like the rain and snow.
It will not come back to me without results.
It will accomplish whatever I want
and achieve whatever I send it to do.”
12 You will go out with joy and be led out in peace.
The mountains and the hills
will break into songs of joy in your presence,
and all the trees will clap their hands.
13 Cypress trees will grow where thornbushes grew.
Myrtle trees will grow where briars grew.
This will be a reminder of Yahweh’s name
and an everlasting sign that will never be destroyed.

55 »Todos ustedes, los que tienen sed: Vengan a las aguas;(A) y ustedes, los que no tienen dinero, vengan y compren, y coman. Vengan y compren vino y leche, sin que tengan que pagar con dinero. 2 ¿Por qué gastan su dinero en lo que no alimenta, y su sueldo en lo que no les sacia? Escúchenme bien, y coman lo que es bueno; deléitense con la mejor comida. 3 Inclinen su oído, y vengan a mí; escuchen y vivirán. Yo haré con ustedes un pacto eterno, que es el de mi invariable misericordia por David.(B) 4 Yo lo puse como testigo para los pueblos, y como jefe y maestro de las naciones. 5 Por causa del Señor tu Dios, por el Santo de Israel que te ha honrado, llamarás a gente que no conocías; pueblos que nunca te conocieron correrán a ti.»
6 Busquen al Señor mientras pueda ser hallado; llámenlo mientras se encuentre cerca. 7 ¡Que dejen los impíos su camino, y los malvados sus malos pensamientos! ¡Que se vuelvan al Señor, nuestro Dios, y él tendrá misericordia de ellos, pues él sabe perdonar con generosidad.
8 El Señor ha dicho:
«Mis pensamientos no son los pensamientos de ustedes, ni son sus caminos mis caminos. 9 Así como los cielos son más altos que la tierra, también mis caminos y mis pensamientos son más altos que los caminos y pensamientos de ustedes.
10 »Así como la lluvia y la nieve caen de los cielos, y no vuelven allá, sino que riegan la tierra y la hacen germinar y producir, con lo que dan semilla para el que siembra y pan para el que come,(C) 11 así también mi palabra, cuando sale de mi boca, no vuelve a mí vacía, sino que hace todo lo que yo quiero, y tiene éxito en todo aquello para lo cual la envié.
12 »Ustedes saldrán con alegría, y volverán en paz; los montes y las colinas cantarán al paso de ustedes, y todos los árboles del campo aplaudirán. 13 En lugar de zarzas, crecerán cipreses; en lugar de ortigas, crecerán arrayanes. Esto dará lustre al nombre del Señor; ¡será una señal eterna que durará para siempre!»

Invitation to the Thirsty
55 “Come, all you who are thirsty,(A)
come to the waters;(B)
and you who have no money,
come, buy(C) and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk(D)
without money and without cost.(E)
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?(F)
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,(G)
and you will delight in the richest(H) of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen,(I) that you may live.(J)
I will make an everlasting covenant(K) with you,
my faithful love(L) promised to David.(M)
4 See, I have made him a witness(N) to the peoples,
a ruler and commander(O) of the peoples.
5 Surely you will summon nations(P) you know not,
and nations you do not know will come running to you,(Q)
because of the Lord your God,
the Holy One(R) of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor.”(S)
6 Seek(T) the Lord while he may be found;(U)
call(V) on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake(W) their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.(X)
Let them turn(Y) to the Lord, and he will have mercy(Z) on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.(AA)
8 “For my thoughts(AB) are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”(AC)
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,(AD)
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.(AE)
10 As the rain(AF) and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,(AG)
so that it yields seed(AH) for the sower and bread for the eater,(AI)
11 so is my word(AJ) that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,(AK)
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose(AL) for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy(AM)
and be led forth in peace;(AN)
the mountains and hills
will burst into song(AO) before you,
and all the trees(AP) of the field
will clap their hands.(AQ)
13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers(AR) the myrtle(AS) will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,(AT)
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”
