Isaiah 54

The Lord takes care of his people
54 ‘Sing with joy,
you woman who could not give birth to any children.
You have never known the pain of a child's birth,
but now shout loudly with joy.
Be happy, because the woman who is alone
will have many children.
She will have more children than the woman who has a husband.’[a]
That is what the Lord says.
2 Make your tent bigger!
You need more room to live in.
Yes, do it!
Make the tent's ropes longer!
Make the pegs that hold it stronger!
3 The borders of your land will be wider in all directions.
Your descendants will take land from other nations.
They will live in the cities that had become empty.
4 Do not be afraid.
You will not be ashamed again.
Do not be frightened of shame.
Nobody will make you ashamed.
You will forget the shame
which you had when you were young.
You will forget that you were ashamed to be alone,
like a widow.
5 Now your Maker is your husband.
His name is the Lord Almighty.
Israel's Holy God is your Redeemer.
He is called, ‘The God who rules the whole earth’.
6 ‘The Lord will now call you to come back to him.
You have been like a wife who was very upset,
because her husband has left her.
You have been like a wife who married when she was young,
and her husband sent her away.’
That is what your God says.
7 ‘For a short time I went away from you.
But now I will bring you back to myself,
because I feel very sorry for you.
8 For a moment I became very angry with you,
and I turned away from you.
But now I will be kind to you,
because my love for you continues for ever.’
That is what the Lord, your Redeemer, says.
9 ‘This is like what I did in Noah's time.[b]
At that time, I promised that a flood of water would never again destroy the earth.
Now, at this time, I have promised that I will not be angry with you again.
I will not speak against you again.
10 The mountains may shake to pieces,
and the hills may disappear.
But I will never take my love away from you.
My covenant that brings peace between us will never finish.’
That is what the Lord who is very kind to you says.
11 ‘My city, enemies attacked you,
like a strong storm.
Nobody was there to help you.
Look! Now I will use beautiful jewels to build you again.
I will build your foundation with blue sapphires.
12 I will build your strong towers with rubies.
I will build your gates with valuable jewels,
and I will build your walls with beautiful stones.[c]
13 I, the Lord, will teach your children,
and peace will fill their lives.
14 You will have a strong foundation of righteousness.
Your cruel enemies will be far away.
You will have nothing to be afraid of.
No trouble will come near to frighten you.
15 If anyone comes to attack you,
I will not have sent them.
You will win against anyone who tries to attack you.
16 Look! I myself created the worker
who knows how to use iron to make things.
He makes his fire very hot,
and he makes weapons from the iron.
He makes weapons that are strong to fight with.
I also created the armies
who use their weapons to destroy people.
17 But nobody can make a weapon that will beat you,
when your enemies attack you.
If people accuse you of bad things,
you will show that they are wrong.
That is what the Lord will do
as a gift for his servants.
Yes, I will show that they are right.’
That is what the Lord says.

- 54:1 God is speaking to Zion as if the city is a woman. God is telling his people that they will have a reason to be happy, because he will bless them.
- 54:9 God sent a flood in Noah's time. See Genesis 6—9.
- 54:12 God continues to speak to his special city, Zion (Jerusalem). One day there will be a new city called Jerusalem. That will be a very beautiful place, where God himself lives with his people. See Revelation 21:10-27.

54 Nagsiling ang Ginoo, “Magkanta ka, O Jerusalem, ikaw nga pareho sa isa ka baw-as nga babayi. Magkanta ka kag maghugyaw sa kalipay, ikaw nga wala pa gid makaagi sing pasakit sa pagbata. Tungod nga bisan ginbayaan ka sang imo bana, mas madamo pa ang imo mabata sang sa babayi nga nagapuyo upod sa iya bana. 2 Pasangkara kag pabakura[a] ang imo puluy-an.[b] Indi pagpunggi ang pagpalapad sini. 3 Kay magasangkad ang imo mga dulunan, sakupon sang imo katawhan ang iban nga mga nasyon, kag puy-an nila ang mga banwa sini nga ginpabay-an na. 4 Indi ka magkahadlok, kay indi ka mahuy-an. Sigurado nga malipatan mo na ang kahuy-anan sang imo pagkabataon kag subong man sang imo pagkabalo. 5 Kay ako nga imo Manunuga mangin pareho sa isa ka bana sa imo. Makagagahom nga Ginoo ang akon ngalan. Ako, ang Balaan nga Dios sang Israel, amo ang imo Manluluwas. Ginatawag ako nga ‘Dios sang bug-os nga kalibutan.’
6 “Jerusalem, pareho ka sa bataon pa nga asawa nga nagapangasubo tungod nga ginbayaan siya sang iya bana. Pero karon ginatawag ko ikaw nga magbalik sa akon. 7 Sa malip-ot nga tion ginbayaan ko ikaw, pero sa dako ko nga kaluoy kuhaon ko ikaw liwat. 8 Tungod sa puwerte ko nga kaakig sa imo gintalikdan ko ikaw sa malip-ot nga tion, pero tungod sa akon wala sing katapusan nga gugma, kaluoyan ko ikaw. Ako, ang Ginoo nga imo Manluluwas, ang nagasiling sini.
9 “Para sa akon, pareho ini sang panahon[c] ni Noe sang nagpromisa ako nga indi na gid pagtabunan sang baha ang kalibutan. Karon, nagapromisa ako nga indi na gid ako maakig ukon magsilot sa imo, O Jerusalem. 10 Bisan magkalatiphag pa ang mga bukid, ang akon gugma indi gid madula, subong man ang akon kasugtanan sa imo nga hatagan ko ikaw sang maayo nga kahimtangan. Ako, ang Ginoo nga naluoy sa imo, ang nagasiling sini.
11 “O Jerusalem, daw ginbagyuhan ka. Nag-antos ka kag wala gid sing may naglipay kag nagpabaskog sa imo. Pero tukuron ko liwat ikaw sa mga pundasyon nga halin sa mga bato nga sapiro kag gamiton ko ang malahalon nga mga bato sa paghimo sang mga dingding sang imo mga balay. 12 Gamiton ko ang mga bato nga rubi sa paghimo sang imo mga tore, kag gamiton ko ang matahom nga mga bato sa paghimo sang imo mga puwertahan kag mga pader. 13 Ako mismo ang magatudlo sa imo katawhan,[d] kag mangin maayo gid ang ila kahimtangan. 14 Mangin malig-on ka tungod nga magakabuhi sing matarong ang imo katawhan. Magapalagyo sa imo ang imo mga kaaway, gani wala ka sing kahadlukan. Indi na makapalapit sa imo ang imo mga kaaway nga nagapahadlok sa imo. 15 Kon may magsalakay sa imo, indi ina akon kagustuhan. Magasurender sa imo ang magasalakay sa imo. 16 Pamati! Ako mismo ang naghimo sang mga panday sang metal, nga nagadabok sang kalayo kag nagahimo sang armas. Kag ako man ang naghimo sang mga manuglaglag nga nagagamit sang sini nga mga armas sa pagpanglaglag. 17 Wala sing armas nga ginhimo nga magadaog sa imo, kag masabat mo ang mga akusasyon kontra sa imo. Amo ina ang maangkon sang akon mga alagad. Mabaton nila ang kadalag-an nga may pagkamatarong halin sa akon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagasiling sini.”

A Perpetual Covenant of Peace
54 “Sing, O (A)barren,
You who have not borne!
Break forth into singing, and cry aloud,
You who have not labored with child!
For more are the children of the desolate
Than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord.
2 “Enlarge(B) the place of your tent,
And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare;
Lengthen your cords,
And strengthen your stakes.
3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left,
And your descendants will (C)inherit the nations,
And make the desolate cities inhabited.
4 “Do(D) not fear, for you will not be ashamed;
Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;
For you will forget the shame of your youth,
And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.
5 (E)For your Maker is your husband,
The Lord of hosts is His name;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;
He is called (F)the God of the whole earth.
6 For the Lord (G)has called you
Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit,
Like a youthful wife when you were refused,”
Says your God.
7 “For(H) a mere moment I have forsaken you,
But with great mercies (I)I will gather you.
8 With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment;
(J)But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,”
Says the Lord, your Redeemer.
9 “For this is like the waters of (K)Noah to Me;
For as I have sworn
That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,
So have I sworn
That I would not be angry with (L)you, nor rebuke you.
10 For (M)the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed,
(N)But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
11 “O you afflicted one,
Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,
Behold, I will lay your stones with (O)colorful gems,
And lay your foundations with sapphires.
12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies,
Your gates of crystal,
And all your walls of precious stones.
13 All your children shall be (P)taught by the Lord,
And (Q)great shall be the peace of your children.
14 In righteousness you shall be established;
You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
And from terror, for it shall not come near you.
15 Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.
Whoever assembles against you shall (R)fall for your sake.
16 “Behold, I have created the blacksmith
Who blows the coals in the fire,
Who brings forth an [a]instrument for his work;
And I have created the [b]spoiler to destroy.
17 No weapon formed against you shall (S)prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
(T)And their righteousness is from Me,”
