“I am the Lord, I have called You (the Messiah) in righteousness [for a righteous purpose],
I will also take You by the hand and keep watch over You,
And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people [Israel],
As a light to the nations (Gentiles),

He says, “It is too trivial a thing that You should be My Servant
To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the ^[a]survivors of Israel;
I will also make You a light to the nations
That My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

A Light for revelation to the Gentiles [to disclose what was previously unknown],
And [to bring] the praise and honor and glory of Your people Israel.”^(A)

‘I have placed You as a light for the Gentiles,
So that You may bring [the message of eternal] salvation to the end of the earth.’”^(A)
