The Ransomed Return to Zion
35 The wilderness and the dry land will be glad;
the desert will rejoice and blossom like a wildflower.[a](A)
2 It will blossom abundantly
and will also rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon.(B)
They will see the glory of the Lord,(C)
the splendor of our God.(D)
3 Strengthen the weak hands,
steady the shaking knees!(E)
4 Say to the cowardly:
“Be strong; do not fear!
Here is your God; vengeance is coming.(F)
God’s retribution is coming; he will save you.”(G)
5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened,
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.(H)
6 Then the lame will leap like a deer,(I)
and the tongue of the mute will sing for joy,(J)
for water will gush in the wilderness,
and streams in the desert;(K)
7 the parched ground will become a pool,
and the thirsty land, springs.(L)
In the haunt of jackals,(M) in their lairs,
there will be grass, reeds, and papyrus.
8 A road will be there and a way;(N)
it will be called the Holy Way.(O)
The unclean will not travel on it,(P)
but it will be for the one who walks the path.(Q)
Fools will not wander on it.
9 There will be no lion there,
and no vicious beast will go up on it;
they will not be found there.
But the redeemed will walk on it,
10 and the ransomed of the Lord will return(R)
and come to Zion with singing,
crowned with unending joy.
Joy and gladness will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee.(S)

Zion’s Happy Future
35 The (A)wilderness and the desert will be glad,
And the [a](B)Arabah will rejoice and blossom;
Like the crocus
2 It will (C)blossom profusely
And (D)rejoice with rejoicing and shout of joy.
The (E)glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
The majesty of (F)Carmel and Sharon.
They will see the (G)glory of the Lord,
The majesty of our God.
3 (H)Encourage the [b]exhausted, and strengthen the [c]feeble.
4 Say to those with (I)anxious heart,
“Take courage, fear not.
Behold, your God will come with (J)vengeance;
The (K)recompense of God will come,
But He will (L)save you.”
5 Then the (M)eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
6 Then the (N)lame will leap like a deer,
And the (O)tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
For waters will break forth in the (P)wilderness
And streams in the [d]Arabah.
7 The [e]scorched land will become a pool
And the thirsty ground (Q)springs of water;
In the (R)haunt of jackals, its resting place,
Grass becomes reeds and rushes.
8 (S)A highway will be there, (T)a roadway,
And it will be called the Highway of (U)Holiness.
The unclean will not travel on it,
But it will be for him who walks that way,
And (V)fools will not wander on it.
9 No (W)lion will be there,
Nor will any vicious beast go up on it;
[f]These will not be found there.
But (X)the redeemed will walk there,
10 And (Y)the ransomed of the Lord will return
And come with joyful shouting to Zion,
With everlasting joy upon their heads.
They will [g]find gladness and joy,
And (Z)sorrow and sighing will flee away.

Isaiah 35
King James Version
35 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.
3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
