17 Your eyes will behold (A)the King in His beauty;
They will see (B)a far-distant land.
18 Your heart will meditate on (C)terror:
“Where is (D)he who counts?
Where is he who weighs?
Where is he who counts the towers?”
19 You will no longer see a fierce people,
A people of [a](E)unintelligible speech [b]which no one comprehends,
Of a stammering tongue [c]which no one understands.
20 (F)Behold Zion, the city of our appointed times;
Your eyes will see Jerusalem, an (G)abode at ease,
(H)A tent which will not be folded;
Its stakes will never be pulled up,
Nor any of its cords ever be torn apart.
21 But there the Mighty One, Yahweh, will be for us
A place of (I)rivers and wide canals
On which no boat with oars will go,
And on which no mighty ship will pass—
22 For Yahweh is our (J)judge,
Yahweh is (K)our lawgiver,
Yahweh is (L)our king;
(M)He will save us—
23 Your cords hang slack;
They cannot hold the base of their mast firmly,
Nor spread out the sail.
Then the (N)prey of an abundant spoil will be divided;
(O)The lame will take the plunder.
24 And no one who dwells there will say, “I am (P)sick”;
The people who inhabit [d]there will be (Q)forgiven their iniquity.

The Land of the Majestic King

17 Your eyes will see the king in his beauty;
    they will behold a land that stretches afar.
18 Your mind will muse on the terror:
    “Where is he who counted, where is he who weighed the tribute?
    Where is he who counted the towers?”
19 You will see no more the insolent people,
    the people of an obscure speech which you cannot comprehend,
    stammering in a tongue which you cannot understand.
20 Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts!
    Your eyes will see Jerusalem,
    a quiet habitation, an immovable tent,
whose stakes will never be plucked up,
    nor will any of its cords be broken.
21 But there the Lord in majesty will be for us
    a place of broad rivers and streams,
where no galley with oars can go,
    nor stately ship can pass.
22 For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our ruler,
    the Lord is our king; he will save us.

23 Your tackle hangs loose;
    it cannot hold the mast firm in its place,
    or keep the sail spread out.

Then prey and spoil in abundance will be divided;
    even the lame will take the prey.
24 And no inhabitant will say, “I am sick”;
    the people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity.
