^21 (A)For behold, the Lord is coming out from his place
    to punish the inhabitants of ^(B)the earth for their iniquity,
and the earth will disclose the blood shed on it,
    and will no more cover its slain.

⁴ For thus the Lord said to me:
“I will quietly look ^(A)from my dwelling
    like clear heat in sunshine,
    like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”

¹¹ I will punish ^(A)the world for its evil,
    and the wicked for their iniquity;
I will ^(B)put an end to the pomp of the arrogant,
    ^(C)and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.

³ For behold, ^(A)the Lord is coming out of ^(B)his place,
    and will come down and ^(C)tread upon the high places of the earth.
⁴ And ^(D)the mountains will melt under him,
    and the valleys will split open,
like wax before the fire,
    like waters poured down a steep place.
⁵ All this is for ^(E)the transgression of Jacob
    and for the sins of the house of Israel.
^(F)What is the transgression of Jacob?
    Is it not ^(G)Samaria?
And what is ^(H)the high place of Judah?
    Is it not Jerusalem?
⁶ Therefore I will make ^(I)Samaria ^(J)a heap in the open country,
    a place for planting vineyards,
and I will pour down her stones ^(K)into the valley
    and ^(L)uncover her foundations.
⁷ All ^(M)her carved images shall be beaten to pieces,
    ^(N)all her wages shall be burned with fire,
    and all her idols I will lay waste,
for from ^(O)the fee of a prostitute she gathered them,
    and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.

⁶ For ^(A)they have shed the blood of ^(B)saints and prophets,
    and ^(C)you have given them blood to drink.
It is what they deserve!”
