7 He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. 8 [a]By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the [b]living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? 9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; [c]although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.Read full chapter

7 He was oppressed(A) and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;(B)
he was led like a lamb(C) to the slaughter,(D)
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression[a] and judgment(E) he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;(F)
for the transgression(G) of my people he was punished.[b]
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,(H)
and with the rich(I) in his death,
though he had done no violence,(J)
