8 For Yahweh has a day of (A)vengeance,
A year of recompense for the [a]cause of Zion.
9 [b]And its streams will be turned into pitch,
And its dust into (B)brimstone,
And its land will become burning pitch.
10 It will (C)not be quenched night or day;
Its (D)smoke will go up forever.
From (E)generation to generation it will be laid waste;
(F)None will pass through it forever and ever.

9 Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch,
her dust into burning sulfur;(D)
her land will become blazing pitch!
10 It will not be quenched(E) night or day;
its smoke will rise forever.(F)
From generation to generation(G) it will lie desolate;(H)
no one will ever pass through it again.
