Yahweh’s Plan to Break Assyrian Rule

²⁴ Yahweh of hosts has sworn saying, “Surely, ^(A)just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have counseled so it will stand, ²⁵ to ^(B)break Assyria in My land, and I will trod him down on My mountains. Then his ^(C)yoke will be removed from them and his burden removed from their shoulder.

¹⁷ “Now as for you, son of man, thus says Lord Yahweh, ‘Say to every ^[a]kind of ^(A)bird and to every ^(B)beast of the field, “Gather and come, assemble from every side to My sacrifice which I am going to ^(C)sacrifice for you, as a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, that you may eat flesh and drink blood. ¹⁸ You will ^(D)eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, as though they were ^(E)rams, lambs, goats, and ^(F)bulls, all of them fatlings of ^(G)Bashan. ¹⁹ So you will eat fat until you are satisfied and drink blood until you are drunk, from My sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. ²⁰ And you will be satisfied at My table with ^(H)horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all the men of war,” declares Lord Yahweh.
