¹⁴ The Lord replied, “My Presence^(A) will go with you, and I will give you rest.”^(B)

God’s Angel to Prepare the Way

²⁰ “See, I am sending an angel^(A) ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.^{(B) 21} Pay attention to him and listen^(C) to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive^(D) your rebellion,^(E) since my Name^(F) is in him.

⁷ The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous^(A) than other peoples, for you were the fewest^(B) of all peoples.^{(C) 8} But it was because the Lord loved^(D) you and kept the oath he swore^(E) to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand^(F) and redeemed^(G) you from the land of slavery,^(H) from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

³¹ and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried^(A) you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”^(B)

⁴ ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt,^(A) and how I carried you on eagles’ wings^(B) and brought you to myself.^(C)

¹¹ Then Peter came to himself^(A) and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me^(B) from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.”

3 “I will send my messenger,^(A) who will prepare the way before me.^(B) Then suddenly the Lord^(C) you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant,^(D) whom you desire,^(E) will come,” says the Lord Almighty.

³⁴ I have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free. Now come, I will send you back to Egypt.’^[a](A)

³⁵ “This is the same Moses they had rejected with the words, ‘Who made you ruler and judge?’^(B) He was sent to be their ruler and deliverer by God himself, through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
