⁵ For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
    behold, it descends for judgment upon ^(A)Edom,
    upon the people ^(B)I have devoted to destruction.
⁶ The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood;
    it is gorged with fat,
    with the blood of lambs and goats,
    with the fat of the kidneys of rams.
^(C)For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
    a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

⁷ Remember, O Lord, against the ^(A)Edomites
    ^(B)the day of Jerusalem,
how they said, ^(C)“Lay it bare, lay it bare,
    down to its foundations!”

² Why is your ^(A)apparel red,
    and your garments like his ^(B)who treads in the winepress?

^3 (C)“I have trodden the winepress alone,
    ^(D)and from the peoples no one was with me;
I trod them in my anger
    and trampled them in my wrath;
their lifeblood^[a] spattered on my garments,
    and stained all my apparel.

^(A)“For three transgressions of ^(B)Edom,
    and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
^(C)because he pursued his brother with the sword
    ^(D)and cast off all pity,
^(E)and his anger tore perpetually,
    ^(F)and he kept his wrath forever.
¹² So I will send a fire upon ^(G)Teman,
    and it shall devour the strongholds of ^(H)Bozrah.”

“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
    ^(A)who is and who was,
for you have taken your great power
    and ^(B)begun to reign.
¹⁸ The nations raged,
    but ^(C)your wrath came,
    and ^(D)the time for the dead to be judged,
and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints,
    and ^(E)those who fear your name,
    both small and great,
and ^(F)for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”
