¹⁶ He saw that there was no one,^(A)
    he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;^(B)
so his own arm achieved salvation^(C) for him,
    and his own righteousness^(D) sustained him.

⁷ No one^(A) calls on your name^(B)
    or strives to lay hold of you;
for you have hidden^(C) your face from us
    and have given us over^(D) to^[a] our sins.

²⁸ I look but there is no one^(A)—
    no one among the gods to give counsel,^(B)
    no one to give answer^(C) when I ask them.

³ “I have trodden the winepress^(A) alone;
    from the nations no one was with me.
I trampled^(B) them in my anger
    and trod them down in my wrath;^(C)
their blood spattered my garments,^(D)
    and I stained all my clothing.
⁴ It was for me the day of vengeance;^(E)
    the year for me to redeem had come.
⁵ I looked, but there was no one^(F) to help,
    I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm^(G) achieved salvation for me,
    and my own wrath sustained me.^(H)

¹⁰ The Lord will lay bare his holy arm^(A)
    in the sight of all the nations,^(B)
and all the ends of the earth^(C) will see
    the salvation^(D) of our God.

²³ So he said he would destroy^(A) them—
    had not Moses, his chosen one,
stood in the breach^(B) before him
    to keep his wrath from destroying them.
