²³ Kings shall be your foster fathers
    and their queens your nursing mothers.
With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you
    and lick the dust of your feet.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;
    those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.^(A)

¹⁶ You shall suck the milk of nations;
    you shall suck the breasts of kings,
and you shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior
    and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.^(A)

¹⁴ The descendants of those who oppressed you
    shall come bending low to you,
and all who despised you
    shall bow down at your feet;
they shall call you the City of the Lord,
    the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.^(A)

³ Nations shall come to your light
    and kings to the brightness of your dawn.^(A)

¹⁷ they shall lick dust like a snake,
    like the crawling things of the earth;
they shall come trembling out of their fortresses;
    they shall turn in dread to the Lord our God,
    and they shall stand in fear of you.^(A)

¹⁰ Foreigners shall build up your walls,
    and their kings shall minister to you,
for in my wrath I struck you down,
    but in my favor I have had mercy on you.^(A)
11 Your gates shall always be open;
    day and night they shall not be shut,
so that nations shall bring you their wealth,
    with their kings led in procession.^(B)

¹⁴ Thus says the Lord:
The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush
    and the Sabeans, tall of stature,
shall come over to you and be yours;
    they shall follow you;
    they shall come over in chains and bow down to you.
They will make supplication to you, saying,
    “God is with you alone, and there is no other;
    there is no god besides him.”^(A)

³ Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame;
    let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.^(A)
