³⁰ Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;

^14 (A)Flight shall perish from the swift,
    ^(B)and the strong shall not retain his strength,
    ^(C)nor shall the mighty save his life;

^10 (A)The young lions suffer want and hunger;
    but those who ^(B)seek the Lord lack no good thing.

^16 (A)The king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.

^18 (A)Their bows will slaughter^[a] the young men;
    they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb;
    their eyes will not pity children.

¹⁷ Therefore the Lord does not ^(A)rejoice over their young men,
    and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows;
for everyone is ^(B)godless and an evildoer,
    and every mouth speaks ^(C)folly.^[a]
(D)For all this his anger has not turned away,
    and his hand is stretched out still.

¹¹ Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord;
    ^(A)I am weary of holding it in.
^(B)“Pour it out upon the children in the street,
    and upon the gatherings of young men, also;
^(C)both husband and wife ^(D)shall be taken,
    the elderly and the very aged.

⁵ Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths,
    and ^(A)my lifetime is as nothing before you.
