² Lord, be gracious^(A) to us;
    we long for you.
Be our strength^(B) every morning,
    our salvation^(C) in time of distress.^(D)

¹⁸ Yet the Lord longs^(A) to be gracious to you;
    therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.^(B)
For the Lord is a God of justice.^(C)
    Blessed are all who wait for him!^(D)

“Surely this is our God;^(B)
    we trusted^(C) in him, and he saved^(D) us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
    let us rejoice^(E) and be glad in his salvation.”^(F)

¹⁶ He saw that there was no one,^(A)
    he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;^(B)
so his own arm achieved salvation^(C) for him,
    and his own righteousness^(D) sustained him.

⁴ But with you there is forgiveness,^(A)
    so that we can, with reverence, serve you.^(B)

⁵ I wait for the Lord,^(C) my whole being waits,^(D)
    and in his word^(E) I put my hope.
⁶ I wait for the Lord
    more than watchmen^(F) wait for the morning,
    more than watchmen wait for the morning.^(G)

⁷ Israel, put your hope^(H) in the Lord,
    for with the Lord is unfailing love^(I)
    and with him is full redemption.^(J)
8 He himself will redeem^(K) Israel
    from all their sins.^(L)

⁸ Trust in him at all times, you people;^(A)
    pour out your hearts to him,^(B)
    for God is our refuge.

¹¹ Give us aid against the enemy,
    for human help is worthless.^(A)
