¹⁰ It grew as high as the host of heaven. It threw down to earth some of the host and some of the stars and trampled on them.^{(A) 11} Even against the prince of the host it acted arrogantly; it took the regular burnt offering away from him and overthrew the place of his sanctuary.^{(B) 12} Because of wickedness, the host was given over to it together with the regular burnt offering;^[a] it cast truth to the ground and kept prospering in what it did.

² Mortal, say to the prince of Tyre: Thus says the Lord God:

¹² Mortal, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him: Thus says the Lord God:

⁴ He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God.^(A)

²² And you, Belshazzar his son, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this!^{(A) 23} You have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven! The vessels of his temple have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have been drinking wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose power is your very breath and to whom belong all your ways, you have not honored.^(B)

³ speak and say: Thus says the Lord God:

²³ And you, Capernaum,

“For if the deeds of power done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.^(A)
