³¹ Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah
    will take root^(A) below and bear fruit^(B) above.
³² For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant,^(C)
    and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors.^(D)
The zeal^(E) of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.

⁷ In that day^(A) people will look^(B) to their Maker^(C)
    and turn their eyes to the Holy One^(D) of Israel.
⁸ They will not look to the altars,^(E)
    the work of their hands,^(F)
and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles^[a](G)
    and the incense altars their fingers^(H) have made.

¹⁰ Who among you fears^(A) the Lord
    and obeys^(B) the word of his servant?^(C)
Let the one who walks in the dark,
    who has no light,^(D)
trust^(E) in the name of the Lord
    and rely on their God.

⁹ Unless the Lord Almighty
    had left us some survivors,^(A)
we would have become like Sodom,
    we would have been like Gomorrah.^(B)

“Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea,^(A)
    only the remnant will be saved.^(B)
28 For the Lord will carry out
    his sentence on earth with speed and finality.”^[a](C)

“Unless the Lord Almighty^(D)
    had left us descendants,
we would have become like Sodom,
    we would have been like Gomorrah.”^[b](E)
