Isaías 2
Dios Habla Hoy

El Señor hará que reine la paz entre las naciones(A)

2 Éstas son las profecías que Isaías, hijo de Amós, recibió por revelación acerca de Judá y Jerusalén:

2 En los últimos tiempos quedará afirmado
el monte donde se halla el templo del Señor.
Será el monte más alto,
más alto que cualquier otro monte.
Todas las naciones vendrán a él;
3 pueblos numerosos llegarán, diciendo:
«Vengan, subamos al monte del Señor,
al templo del Dios de Jacob,
para que él nos enseñe sus caminos
y podamos andar por sus senderos.»
Porque de Sión saldrá la enseñanza del Señor,
de Jerusalén vendrá su palabra.
4 El Señor juzgará entre las naciones
y decidirá los pleitos de pueblos numerosos.
Ellos convertirán sus espadas en arados
y sus lanzas en hoces.
Ningún pueblo volverá a tomar las armas contra otro
ni a recibir instrucción para la guerra.
5 ¡Vamos, pueblo de Jacob,
caminemos a la luz del Señor!

Castigo de los soberbios

6 Señor, has abandonado a tu gente, al pueblo de Jacob;
el país está lleno de adivinos venidos del oriente,
de magos como entre los filisteos,
y se hacen tratos con extranjeros.
7 El país está lleno de oro y plata,
de tesoros inmensos;
el país está lleno de caballos
y de infinidad de carros.
8 ¡Pero también está lleno de ídolos!
La gente adora los dioses que ha hecho con sus manos,
con sus propios dedos.
9 Se han humillado, se han rebajado.
¡No los perdones!

10 La gente se meterá entre las rocas,
debajo del suelo;
se esconderá de la presencia terrible del Señor,
del resplandor de su majestad.
11 Los orgullosos tendrán que bajar la vista;
los altaneros se verán humillados.
Sólo el Señor mostrará su grandeza en aquel día,
12 el día en que el Señor todopoderoso actúe
contra todo hombre orgulloso y soberbio,
contra todo hombre altanero, para humillarlo;
13 contra todos los que se creen cedros del Líbano,
altos y elevados,
o robles de Basán;
14 contra todos los que se creen montes altos
o cerros elevados,
15 contra todos los que se creen torres altas
o fuertes murallas,
16 contra todos los que se creen naves de Tarsis
o barcos preciosos.
17 Los orgullosos y altaneros
serán humillados por completo.
Solamente el Señor mostrará su grandeza en aquel día,
18 y acabará con todos los ídolos.

19 Cuando el Señor se levante y llene de terror la tierra,
la gente se meterá en las cuevas de las rocas,
en los hoyos del suelo;
se esconderá de la presencia terrible del Señor,
del resplandor de su majestad.
20 En aquel día el hombre echará sus ídolos
a las ratas y a los murciélagos,
esos ídolos de oro y de plata
que él mismo se hizo para adorarlos,
21 y se meterá en los huecos de las rocas,
en las cuevas de las peñas,
para esconderse de la presencia terrible del Señor,
del resplandor de su majestad,
cuando él se levante y llene de terror la tierra.
22 Dejen de confiar en el hombre,
que bien poco es lo que vale.
La vida del hombre no es más que un suspiro.

Reinado universal de Jehová(A)

2 Lo que vio Isaías hijo de Amoz, acerca de Judá y de Jerusalén.

2 Acontecerá que al final de los tiempos
será confirmado el monte de la casa de Jehová
como cabeza de los montes;
será exaltado sobre los collados
y correrán a él todas las naciones.
3 Vendrán muchos pueblos y dirán:
«Venid, subamos al monte de Jehová,
a la casa del Dios de Jacob.
Él nos enseñará sus caminos
y caminaremos por sus sendas.»
Porque de Sión saldrá la Ley
y de Jerusalén la palabra de Jehová.
4 Él juzgará entre las naciones
y reprenderá a muchos pueblos.
Convertirán sus espadas en rejas de arado
y sus lanzas en hoces;
no alzará espada nación contra nación
ni se adiestrarán más para la guerra.
5 Venid, casa de Jacob,
y caminaremos a la luz de Jehová.

Juicio de Jehová contra los soberbios

6 Ciertamente tú has dejado tu pueblo, la casa de Jacob,
porque están llenos de costumbres traídas del oriente
y de agoreros, como los filisteos;
y pactan con hijos de extranjeros.
7 Su tierra está llena de plata y de oro,
sus tesoros no tienen fin.
También está su tierra llena de caballos
y sus carros son innumerables.
8 Además, su tierra está llena de ídolos,
y se han arrodillado ante la obra de sus manos
y ante lo que fabricaron sus dedos.
9 Así se ha inclinado el hombre
y el varón se ha humillado;
por tanto, no los perdones.
10 ¡Métete en la peña
y en el polvo escóndete
de la presencia temible de Jehová
y del resplandor de su majestad!
11 La altivez de la mirada del hombre será abatida;
la soberbia humana será humillada.
Sólo Jehová será exaltado en aquel día.
12 Porque el día de Jehová de los ejércitos
vendrá sobre todo soberbio y altivo,
sobre todo lo arrogante,
y será abatido;
13 sobre todos los cedros del Líbano
altos y erguidos,
y sobre todas las encinas de Basán;
14 sobre todos los montes altos
y sobre todos los collados elevados;
15 sobre toda torre alta
y sobre todo muro fortificado;
16 sobre todas las naves de Tarsis
y sobre todos los barcos lujosos.
17 La altivez del hombre será abatida;
la soberbia humana será humillada.
Sólo Jehová será exaltado en aquel día.
18 Y acabará por completo con los ídolos.
19 Se meterán en las cavernas de las peñas
y en las aberturas de la tierra,
a causa de la presencia temible de Jehová
y del resplandor de su majestad,
cuando él se levante para castigar la tierra.
20 Aquel día arrojará el hombre
a los topos y murciélagos
sus ídolos de plata y sus ídolos de oro,
que le hicieron para que adorara.
21 Se meterá en las hendiduras de las rocas
y en las cavernas de las peñas,
a causa de la presencia formidable de Jehová
y del resplandor de su majestad,
cuando se levante para castigar la tierra.
22 ¡Dejad al hombre cuyo aliento está en su nariz!
Porque ¿de qué estima es él digno?

2 The vision that Isaiah(A) son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:

2 In(B) the last days(C)
the mountain of the Lord’s house(D) will be established
at the top of the mountains
and will be raised above the hills.
All nations will stream to it,(E)
3 and many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob.(F)
He will teach us about His ways
so that we may walk in His paths.”
For instruction will go out of Zion
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He will settle disputes among the nations
and provide arbitration for many peoples.
They will turn their swords into plows
and their spears into pruning knives.(G)
Nations will not take up the sword against other nations,
and they will never again train for war.(H)

The Day of the Lord

5 House of Jacob,
come and let us walk in the Lord’s light.(I)
6 For You have abandoned(J) Your people,
the house of Jacob,
because they are full of divination from the East
and of fortune-tellers(K) like the Philistines.(L)
They are in league[a] with foreigners.
7 Their[b][c] land is full of silver and gold,
and there is no limit to their treasures;
their land is full of horses,
and there is no limit to their chariots.(M)
8 Their land is full of idols;(N)
they bow down to the work of their hands,
to what their fingers have made.(O)
9 So humanity is brought low,
and man is humbled.
Do not forgive them!(P)
10 Go into the rocks(Q)
and hide in the dust
from the terror of the Lord(R)
and from His majestic splendor.(S)
11 Human pride[d] will be humbled,(T)
and the loftiness of men will be brought low;
the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

12 For a day belonging to the Lord of Hosts is coming
against all that is proud and lofty,(U)
against all that is lifted up—it will be humbled—
13 against all the cedars of Lebanon,(V)
lofty and lifted up,
against all the oaks of Bashan,(W)
14 against all the high mountains,(X)
against all the lofty hills,
15 against every high tower,(Y)
against every fortified wall,
16 against every ship of Tarshish,(Z)
and against every splendid sea vessel.
17 So human pride will be brought low,
and the loftiness of men will be humbled;
the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.(AA)
18 The idols will vanish completely.

19 People will go into caves in the rocks(AB)
and holes in the ground,
away from the terror of the Lord
and from His majestic splendor,
when He rises to terrify the earth.(AC)
20 On that day people will throw
their silver and gold idols,(AD)
which they made to worship,
to the moles and the bats.
21 They will go into the caves of the rocks
and the crevices in the cliffs,
away from the terror of the Lord
and from His majestic splendor,(AE)
when He rises to terrify the earth.
22 Put no more trust in man,
who has only the breath in his nostrils.(AF)

The Mountain of the Lord(A)

2 This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:(B)

2 In the last days(C)

the mountain(D) of the Lord’s temple will be established
    as the highest of the mountains;(E)
it will be exalted(F) above the hills,
    and all nations will stream to it.(G)

3 Many peoples(H) will come and say,

“Come, let us go(I) up to the mountain(J) of the Lord,
    to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
    so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law(K) will go out from Zion,
    the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.(L)
4 He will judge(M) between the nations
    and will settle disputes(N) for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
    and their spears into pruning hooks.(O)
Nation will not take up sword against nation,(P)
    nor will they train for war anymore.

5 Come, descendants of Jacob,(Q)
    let us walk in the light(R) of the Lord.

The Day of the Lord

6 You, Lord, have abandoned(S) your people,
    the descendants of Jacob.(T)
They are full of superstitions from the East;
    they practice divination(U) like the Philistines(V)
    and embrace(W) pagan customs.(X)
7 Their land is full of silver and gold;(Y)
    there is no end to their treasures.(Z)
Their land is full of horses;(AA)
    there is no end to their chariots.(AB)
8 Their land is full of idols;(AC)
    they bow down(AD) to the work of their hands,(AE)
    to what their fingers(AF) have made.
9 So people will be brought low(AG)
    and everyone humbled(AH)—
    do not forgive them.[a](AI)

10 Go into the rocks, hide(AJ) in the ground
    from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty!(AK)
11 The eyes of the arrogant(AL) will be humbled(AM)
    and human pride(AN) brought low;(AO)
the Lord alone will be exalted(AP) in that day.(AQ)

12 The Lord Almighty has a day(AR) in store
    for all the proud(AS) and lofty,(AT)
for all that is exalted(AU)
    (and they will be humbled),(AV)
13 for all the cedars of Lebanon,(AW) tall and lofty,(AX)
    and all the oaks of Bashan,(AY)
14 for all the towering mountains
    and all the high hills,(AZ)
15 for every lofty tower(BA)
    and every fortified wall,(BB)
16 for every trading ship[b](BC)
    and every stately vessel.
17 The arrogance of man will be brought low(BD)
    and human pride humbled;(BE)
the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,(BF)
18     and the idols(BG) will totally disappear.(BH)

19 People will flee to caves(BI) in the rocks
    and to holes in the ground(BJ)
from the fearful presence(BK) of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,(BL)
    when he rises to shake the earth.(BM)
20 In that day(BN) people will throw away
    to the moles and bats(BO)
their idols of silver and idols of gold,(BP)
    which they made to worship.(BQ)
21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks(BR)
    and to the overhanging crags
from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,(BS)
    when he rises(BT) to shake the earth.(BU)

22 Stop trusting in mere humans,(BV)
    who have but a breath(BW) in their nostrils.
    Why hold them in esteem?(BX)
