El descendiente de Jesé trae un reinado de paz y justicia
11 De ese tronco que es Jesé, sale un retoño;
un retoño brota de sus raíces.
2 El espíritu del Señor estará continuamente sobre él,
y le dará sabiduría, inteligencia,
prudencia, fuerza,
conocimiento y temor del Señor.
3 Él no juzgará por la sola apariencia,
ni dará su sentencia fundándose en rumores.
4 Juzgará con justicia a los débiles
y defenderá los derechos de los pobres del país.
Sus palabras serán como una vara para castigar al violento,
y con el soplo de su boca hará morir al malvado.
5 Siempre irá revestido de justicia y verdad.
6 Entonces el lobo y el cordero vivirán en paz,
el tigre y el cabrito descansarán juntos,
el becerro y el león crecerán uno al lado del otro,
y se dejarán guiar por un niño pequeño.
7 La vaca y la osa serán amigas,
y sus crías descansarán juntas.
El león comerá pasto, como el buey.
8 El niño podrá jugar en el hoyo de la cobra,
podrá meter la mano en el nido de la víbora.
9 En todo mi monte santo
no habrá quien haga ningún daño,
porque así como el agua llena el mar,
así el conocimiento del Señor llenará todo el país.
10 En ese tiempo
el retoño de esta raíz que es Jesé
se levantará como una señal para los pueblos;
las naciones irán en su busca,
y el sitio en que esté será glorioso.
Regreso triunfal de los desterrados
11 En ese tiempo mostrará otra vez el Señor su poder
reconquistando el resto de su pueblo,
haciéndolo volver de Asiria y de Egipto,
de Patros, de Etiopía, de Elam,
de Sinar, de Hamat y de los países del mar.
12 Levantará una señal para las naciones
y reunirá a los israelitas que estaban desterrados;
juntará desde los cuatro puntos cardinales
a la gente de Judá que estaba dispersa.
13 La envidia de Efraín terminará,
y el rencor de Judá se calmará;
Efraín no tendrá envidia de Judá,
y Judá no sentirá rencor contra Efraín.
14 Los dos se lanzarán hacia el occidente contra los filisteos
y les caerán por la espalda;
juntos les quitarán las riquezas a las tribus de oriente.
Su poder llegará hasta Edom y Moab,
y dominarán a los amonitas.
15 El Señor les abrirá un camino por el Mar Rojo,
extenderá su brazo sobre el río Éufrates,
hará soplar un viento terrible
que lo dividirá en siete brazos,
y podrán cruzarlos sin quitarse las sandalias.
16 Cuando ese resto del pueblo del Señor vuelva de Asiria,
encontrará un amplio camino,
como Israel cuando salió de Egipto.

The Branch From Jesse
11 A shoot(A) will come up from the stump(B) of Jesse;(C)
from his roots a Branch(D) will bear fruit.(E)
2 The Spirit(F) of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom(G) and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,(H)
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—
3 and he will delight in the fear(I) of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,(J)
or decide by what he hears with his ears;(K)
4 but with righteousness(L) he will judge the needy,(M)
with justice(N) he will give decisions for the poor(O) of the earth.
He will strike(P) the earth with the rod of his mouth;(Q)
with the breath(R) of his lips he will slay the wicked.(S)
5 Righteousness will be his belt(T)
and faithfulness(U) the sash around his waist.(V)
6 The wolf will live with the lamb,(W)
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling[a] together;
and a little child will lead them.
7 The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.(X)
8 The infant(Y) will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s(Z) nest.
9 They will neither harm nor destroy(AA)
on all my holy mountain,(AB)
for the earth(AC) will be filled with the knowledge(AD) of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
10 In that day(AE) the Root of Jesse(AF) will stand as a banner(AG) for the peoples; the nations(AH) will rally to him,(AI) and his resting place(AJ) will be glorious.(AK) 11 In that day(AL) the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant(AM) of his people from Assyria,(AN) from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt,(AO) from Cush,[b](AP) from Elam,(AQ) from Babylonia,[c] from Hamath(AR) and from the islands(AS) of the Mediterranean.(AT)
12 He will raise a banner(AU) for the nations
and gather(AV) the exiles of Israel;(AW)
he will assemble the scattered people(AX) of Judah
from the four quarters of the earth.(AY)
13 Ephraim’s jealousy will vanish,
and Judah’s enemies[d] will be destroyed;
Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.(AZ)
14 They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia(BA) to the west;
together they will plunder the people to the east.(BB)
They will subdue Edom(BC) and Moab,(BD)
and the Ammonites(BE) will be subject to them.(BF)
15 The Lord will dry up(BG)
the gulf of the Egyptian sea;
with a scorching wind(BH) he will sweep his hand(BI)
over the Euphrates River.(BJ)
He will break it up into seven streams
so that anyone can cross over in sandals.(BK)
16 There will be a highway(BL) for the remnant(BM) of his people
that is left from Assyria,(BN)
as there was for Israel
when they came up from Egypt.(BO)

Ett nytt skott
11 Davids kungliga familj ska skäras av och huggas ner som ett träd. Men från den avhuggna roten ska ett skott växa upp, en ny gren från den gamla roten.
2 Herrens Ande ska vila över honom, visdomens, förståndets och kraftens Ande, Herrens kunskaps och fruktans Ande.
3 Hans lust ska vara att lyda Herren. Han ska inte döma efter det som ögonen ser, efter falska bevis eller rykten,
4 utan han ska försvara de fattiga och de som blivit utnyttjade. Han ska döma deras förtryckare.
5 Han ska vara klädd i rättfärdighet och sanning.
6 På den dagen ska varg och lamm vila bredvid varandra, och leoparder och killingar ska umgås i fred. Kalvar och gödboskap ska vara trygga bland lejon, och ett litet barn ska leda dem.
7 Kor ska beta bland björnar, björnungar och kalvar ligga bredvid varandra och lejon äta gräs som kor.
8 Småbarn ska krypa omkring bland giftiga ormar, och om ett av dem sticker handen i ett ormbo, ska det inte skadas.
9 Ingenstans på mitt heliga berg ska man göra något ont eller skadligt, för på samma sätt som vattnet fyller havet, ska jorden vara full av Herrens kunskap.
10 På den dagen ska han som är arvtagaren till kung David vara ett frälsningens banér för hela världen. Folken ska söka sig till honom, för landet där han bor kommer att vara en underbar plats.
11 Då ska Herren föra tillbaka resten av sitt folk för andra gången. De ska återvända till Israels land från Assyrien, Övre och Nedre Egypten, Etiopien, Elam, Babylonien, Hamat och länderna utmed kusterna.
12 För folken ska han resa ett banér att samlas omkring. Han ska samla de förskingrade israeliterna från jordens alla ändar.
13 Då ska äntligen avundsjukan mellan Juda och Israel ta slut, så att de inte längre kommer att ligga i krig med varandra.
14 Tillsammans ska de anfalla de folk som tagit deras land i besittning, filisteerna i väster och i öster de folk som bor där. Med förenade styrkor ska de besegra dem och ockupera Edom, Moab och Ammon.
15 Herren ska låta en torr väg leda genom Röda havet och en het vind blåsa över Eufrat så att den delas i sju småfloder som går att ta sig över till fots.
16 Han ska göra en rak väg från Assyrien för dem som finns kvar där och vill vända tillbaka hem därifrån, på samma sätt som han gjorde för länge sedan, när Israel vände tillbaka från Egypten.
