³ I will destroy her ruler^(A)
    and kill all her officials with him,”^(B)

¹² Princes have been hung up by their hands;
    elders^(A) are shown no respect.^(B)
13 Young men toil at the millstones;
    boys stagger under loads of wood.
¹⁴ The elders are gone from the city gate;
    the young men have stopped their music.^(C)

¹⁴ So the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail,
    both palm branch and reed^(A) in a single day;^(B)
15 the elders^(C) and dignitaries^(D) are the head,
    the prophets^(E) who teach lies^(F) are the tail.

¹³ for all the cedars of Lebanon,^(A) tall and lofty,^(B)
    and all the oaks of Bashan,^(C)
14 for all the towering mountains
    and all the high hills,^(D)
15 for every lofty tower^(E)
    and every fortified wall,^(F)

⁹ We are given no signs from God;^(A)
    no prophets^(B) are left,
    and none of us knows how long this will be.
