²⁵ As he says in Hosea:

²⁶ and,

⁹ But you are a chosen people,^(A) a royal priesthood,^(B) a holy nation,^(C) God’s special possession,^(D) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.^{(E) 10} Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God;^(F) once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

⁹ Then the Lord said, “Call him Lo-Ammi (which means “not my people”), for you are not my people, and I am not your God.^[a](A)

¹⁰ “Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted.^(B) In the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘children of the living God.’^(C)

²⁹ Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,^(A)

¹¹ “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people.^(A) I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.^(B)

³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.^(A) They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.^{(B) 4} ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes.^(C) There will be no more death’^[a](D) or mourning or crying or pain,^(E) for the old order of things has passed away.”^(F)

¹⁷ You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him.^{(A) 18} And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession^(B) as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. ¹⁹ He has declared that he will set you in praise,^(C) fame and honor high above all the nations^(D) he has made and that you will be a people holy^(E) to the Lord your God, as he promised.
