Pablo acusado ante Félix
24 Cinco días después, descendió el sumo sacerdote Ananías con algunos de los ancianos y un orador, un cierto Tértulo. Ellos comparecieron delante del procurador contra Pablo. 2 Y al ser llamado este, Tértulo comenzó a acusarle diciendo:
—Puesto que gozamos de mucha paz, gracias a ti, y se están realizando reformas en beneficio de esta nación debido a tu prudencia, 3 oh excelentísimo Félix, siempre y en todo lugar lo aceptamos con toda gratitud. 4 Pero para no molestarte más largamente, te ruego que nos escuches brevemente, conforme a tu equidad. 5 Porque hemos hallado que este hombre es una plaga, y es promotor de sediciones entre los judíos de todo el mundo y cabecilla de la secta de los nazarenos. 6 Intentó también profanar el templo, pero le prendimos. 7 [a], 8 Al examinarle, tú mismo podrás saber todas estas cosas de las que le acusamos.
9 También los judíos lo confirmaban, alegando que estas cosas eran así.
Defensa de Pablo ante Félix
10 Entonces, cuando el procurador le dio señal para hablar, Pablo contestó:
—Sabiendo que por muchos años has sido juez de esta nación, con confianza expondré mi defensa. 11 Tú puedes cerciorarte de que no hace más de doce días que subí a Jerusalén para adorar. 12 No me hallaron disputando con nadie en el templo, ni provocando tumultos del pueblo, ni en las sinagogas ni en la ciudad. 13 Tampoco pueden ellos comprobarte las cosas de las que ahora me acusan. 14 Sin embargo, te confieso esto: que sirvo al Dios de mis padres conforme al Camino que ellos llaman secta, creyendo todo lo que está escrito en la Ley y en los Profetas. 15 Tengo esperanza en Dios, la cual ellos mismos también abrigan, de que habrá resurrección de los justos y de los injustos. 16 Y por esto yo me esfuerzo siempre por tener una conciencia sin remordimiento delante de Dios y los hombres.
17 »Pasados muchos años, vine para presentar donativos y ofrendas a mi nación. 18 Mientras hacía esto, unos judíos de Asia me hallaron purificado en el templo (no en tumulto ni con alboroto). 19 Ellos deberían comparecer delante de ti y traer acusaciones, si es que tienen algo contra mí. 20 O que digan estos mismos qué delito hallaron cuando comparecí ante el Sanedrín, 21 salvo que cuando estuve entre ellos lancé este grito: “¡Con respecto a la resurrección de los muertos yo soy juzgado hoy por ustedes!”[b].
22 Entonces Félix, estando bien informado acerca de este Camino, les aplazó diciendo:
—Cuando venga el tribuno Lisias, examinaré su caso.
23 Dio órdenes al centurión de que Pablo fuese custodiado, pero que tuviera algunos privilegios y que no se impidiera a ninguno de los suyos atenderle.
Prisión de Pablo en Cesarea
24 Algunos días después, vino Félix con Drusila su esposa, que era judía. Mandó traer a Pablo, y le oyó acerca de la fe en Cristo Jesús. 25 Cuando Pablo disertaba de la justicia, del dominio propio y del juicio venidero, Félix se llenó de miedo y respondió:
—Por ahora, vete; pero cuando tenga oportunidad, te llamaré.
26 A la vez, Félix esperaba también que se le diera algún dinero de parte de Pablo. Por eso le hacía venir con frecuencia y hablaba con él. 27 Pero al cabo de dos años, Félix recibió como sucesor a Porcio Festo, y queriéndose congraciar con los judíos, Félix dejó preso a Pablo.

Defensa de Pablo ante Félix
24 Cinco días después, descendió el sumo sacerdote Ananías con algunos de los ancianos y un cierto orador llamado Tértulo, y comparecieron ante el gobernador contra Pablo. 2 Y cuando este fue llamado, Tértulo comenzó a acusarle, diciendo:
Como debido a ti gozamos de gran paz, y muchas cosas son bien gobernadas en el pueblo por tu prudencia, 3 oh excelentísimo Félix, lo recibimos en todo tiempo y en todo lugar con toda gratitud. 4 Pero por no molestarte más largamente, te ruego que nos oigas brevemente conforme a tu equidad. 5 Porque hemos hallado que este hombre es una plaga, y promotor de sediciones entre todos los judíos por todo el mundo, y cabecilla de la secta de los nazarenos. 6 Intentó también profanar el templo; y prendiéndole, quisimos juzgarle conforme a nuestra ley. 7 Pero interviniendo el tribuno Lisias, con gran violencia le quitó de nuestras manos, 8 mandando a sus acusadores que viniesen a ti. Tú mismo, pues, al juzgarle, podrás informarte de todas estas cosas de que le acusamos.
9 Los judíos también confirmaban, diciendo ser así todo.
10 Habiéndole hecho señal el gobernador a Pablo para que hablase, este respondió:
Porque sé que desde hace muchos años eres juez de esta nación, con buen ánimo haré mi defensa. 11 Como tú puedes cerciorarte, no hace más de doce días que subí a adorar a Jerusalén; 12 y no me hallaron disputando con ninguno, ni amotinando a la multitud; ni en el templo, ni en las sinagogas ni en la ciudad; 13 ni te pueden probar las cosas de que ahora me acusan. 14 Pero esto te confieso, que según el Camino que ellos llaman herejía, así sirvo al Dios de mis padres, creyendo todas las cosas que en la ley y en los profetas están escritas; 15 teniendo esperanza en Dios, la cual ellos también abrigan, de que ha de haber resurrección de los muertos, así de justos como de injustos. 16 Y por esto procuro tener siempre una conciencia sin ofensa ante Dios y ante los hombres. 17 Pero pasados algunos años, vine a hacer limosnas a mi nación y presentar ofrendas. 18 Estaba en ello, cuando unos judíos de Asia me hallaron purificado en el templo, no con multitud ni con alboroto.(A) 19 Ellos debieran comparecer ante ti y acusarme, si contra mí tienen algo. 20 O digan estos mismos si hallaron en mí alguna cosa mal hecha, cuando comparecí ante el concilio, 21 a no ser que estando entre ellos prorrumpí en alta voz: Acerca de la resurrección de los muertos soy juzgado hoy por vosotros.(B)
22 Entonces Félix, oídas estas cosas, estando bien informado de este Camino, les aplazó, diciendo: Cuando descendiere el tribuno Lisias, acabaré de conocer de vuestro asunto. 23 Y mandó al centurión que se custodiase a Pablo, pero que se le concediese alguna libertad, y que no impidiese a ninguno de los suyos servirle o venir a él.
24 Algunos días después, viniendo Félix con Drusila su mujer, que era judía, llamó a Pablo, y le oyó acerca de la fe en Jesucristo. 25 Pero al disertar Pablo acerca de la justicia, del dominio propio y del juicio venidero, Félix se espantó, y dijo: Ahora vete; pero cuando tenga oportunidad te llamaré. 26 Esperaba también con esto, que Pablo le diera dinero para que le soltase; por lo cual muchas veces lo hacía venir y hablaba con él. 27 Pero al cabo de dos años recibió Félix por sucesor a Porcio Festo; y queriendo Félix congraciarse con los judíos, dejó preso a Pablo.

24 ห้าวันต่อมาอานาเนียหัวหน้านักบวชสูงสุด พวกผู้นำอาวุโสบางคน และทนายแก้ต่าง ชื่อเทอร์ทูลลัส เดินทางมาถึงเมืองซีซารียาและฟ้องร้องเปาโลต่อหน้าเจ้าเมือง 2 เมื่อเปาโลถูกเรียกเข้ามา เทอร์ทูลลัสก็กล่าวหาเปาโลต่อหน้าท่านผู้ว่าเฟลิกส์ว่า “ท่านเฟลิกส์ พวกเราอยู่กันอย่างร่มเย็นเป็นสุขภายใต้การดูแลของท่านมาเป็นเวลาช้านาน และประเทศชาติของเราก็ได้รับการปรับปรุงเปลี่ยนแปลงให้ดีขึ้น เพราะท่านมองการณ์ไกล 3 พวกเรารู้สึกยินดีและขอบพระคุณยิ่งนัก สำหรับสิ่งต่างๆที่ท่านได้ทำให้กับเราในทุกๆที่ 4 เพื่อไม่ให้เป็นการรบกวนเวลาของท่านมากนัก ผมขอความกรุณาท่านช่วยฟังพวกเราเล่าอย่างย่อๆ 5 เนื่องจากพวกเราพบว่า ชายคนนี้เป็นพวกชอบก่อความวุ่นวาย ปลุกปั่นให้เกิดการจลาจลในหมู่คนยิวไปทั่วโลก และเขาก็เป็นหัวหน้าลัทธินาซาเร็ธ 6-8 [a] เขายังพยายามทำให้วิหารเกิดความด่างพร้อย พวกเราเลยจับเขา ลองไต่สวนเขาดูเถอะแล้วท่านจะรู้จากปากของเขาเองว่า ทุกสิ่งที่เรากล่าวหาเขานั้นเป็นความจริง” 9 คนยิวอื่นๆก็รีบเข้ามาผสมโรง ยืนยันว่าที่เทอร์ทูลลัสพูดมาทั้งหมดนั้นเป็นความจริง

10 เมื่อเจ้าเมืองให้สัญญาณเปาโลพูด เขาตอบว่า “ผมรู้ว่าท่านเป็นผู้พิพากษาเหนือชนชาตินี้มาหลายปีแล้ว ผมจึงดีใจที่จะได้แก้ต่างให้ตนเองต่อหน้าท่าน 11 ท่านสามารถสอบถามได้เลยว่า ผมมาที่เมืองเยรูซาเล็มเพื่อกราบไหว้พระเจ้ายังไม่ถึงสิบสองวันเลย 12 พวกเขาก็ไม่ได้พบว่า ผมโต้เถียงกับใครในวิหาร หรือปลุกปั่นยุยงใครในที่ประชุมของชาวยิว หรือที่ไหนๆในเมือง 13 พวกเขาก็ไม่มีทางพิสูจน์ให้ท่านเห็นถึงสิ่งที่พวกเขากล่าวหาว่าผมทำ 14 ผมยอมรับต่อท่านว่า ผมได้รับใช้พระเจ้าของบรรพบุรุษของพวกเรา ด้วยการติดตามแนวทางขององค์เจ้าชีวิตที่พวกเขาเรียกว่าเป็นลัทธินอกรีตนั้น ผมเชื่อทุกอย่างที่กฎของโมเสสและที่ผู้พูดแทนพระเจ้าเขียนขึ้น 15 และผมก็มีความหวังอย่างเดียวกับที่พวกเขามีในพระเจ้า คือความหวังที่ว่าพระเจ้าจะทำให้ทุกคนทั้งคนดีและคนชั่วฟื้นขึ้นจากความตาย 16 ผมจึงพยายามทำดีที่สุด เพื่อจะได้มีจิตสำนึกที่ถูกต้องต่อหน้าพระเจ้าและมนุษย์ทุกคน
17 หลังจากที่ผมจากเมืองเยรูซาเล็มไปหลายปี ผมได้กลับมาเพื่อเอาเงินมาช่วยเหลือคนของผมที่ยากจน และมาถวายเครื่องบูชากับพระเจ้า 18 แต่ในระหว่างที่ผมทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ในวิหาร พวกเขาพบผมตอนเพิ่งทำพิธีชำระล้าง[b] เสร็จ ไม่มีฝูงชนหรือความวุ่นวายอะไรเลย 19 มีคนยิวบางคนที่มาจากแคว้นเอเชียอยู่ที่นั่น ถ้าพวกเขามีปัญหาอะไรกับผม พวกเขาก็น่าจะมาฟ้องร้องผมต่อหน้าท่านที่นี่แล้ว 20 หรือไม่ท่านก็ให้คนพวกนี้ที่มาอยู่ที่นี่แล้ว บอกว่าผมทำผิดอะไรบ้างตอนที่ยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าที่ประชุมสภาแซนฮีดริน 21 นอกจากเรื่องนี้เรื่องเดียวคือเรื่องที่ผมได้ร้องตะโกน ตอนที่ยืนอยู่ที่นั่นว่า ‘ผมถูกสอบสวนวันนี้ เพราะผมเชื่อเรื่องการตายแล้วฟื้น’”
22 แล้วเฟลิกส์ ซึ่งได้รับทราบเรื่องแนวทางขององค์เจ้าชีวิตเป็นอย่างดี ก็ได้เลื่อนการพิจารณาคดีออกไป โดยพูดว่า “รอให้ผู้พันลีเซียสมาถึงก่อน เราถึงจะตัดสินคดีของเจ้า” 23 เขาสั่งนายร้อยให้เฝ้าดูแลเปาโลไว้ แต่ปล่อยให้เปาโลมีอิสระพอสมควร และให้เพื่อนๆจัดหาสิ่งที่จำเป็นมาให้ได้
เปาโลพูดกับเฟลิกส์และภรรยา

Paul’s Trial Before Felix
24 Five days later the high priest Ananias(A) went down to Caesarea with some of the elders and a lawyer named Tertullus, and they brought their charges(B) against Paul before the governor.(C) 2 When Paul was called in, Tertullus presented his case before Felix: “We have enjoyed a long period of peace under you, and your foresight has brought about reforms in this nation. 3 Everywhere and in every way, most excellent(D) Felix, we acknowledge this with profound gratitude. 4 But in order not to weary you further, I would request that you be kind enough to hear us briefly.
5 “We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots(E) among the Jews(F) all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene(G) sect(H) 6 and even tried to desecrate the temple;(I) so we seized him. [7] [a] 8 By examining him yourself you will be able to learn the truth about all these charges we are bringing against him.”
9 The other Jews joined in the accusation,(J) asserting that these things were true.
10 When the governor(K) motioned for him to speak, Paul replied: “I know that for a number of years you have been a judge over this nation; so I gladly make my defense. 11 You can easily verify that no more than twelve days(L) ago I went up to Jerusalem to worship. 12 My accusers did not find me arguing with anyone at the temple,(M) or stirring up a crowd(N) in the synagogues or anywhere else in the city. 13 And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me.(O) 14 However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors(P) as a follower of the Way,(Q) which they call a sect.(R) I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,(S) 15 and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection(T) of both the righteous and the wicked.(U) 16 So I strive always to keep my conscience clear(V) before God and man.
17 “After an absence of several years, I came to Jerusalem to bring my people gifts for the poor(W) and to present offerings. 18 I was ceremonially clean(X) when they found me in the temple courts doing this. There was no crowd with me, nor was I involved in any disturbance.(Y) 19 But there are some Jews from the province of Asia,(Z) who ought to be here before you and bring charges if they have anything against me.(AA) 20 Or these who are here should state what crime they found in me when I stood before the Sanhedrin— 21 unless it was this one thing I shouted as I stood in their presence: ‘It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today.’”(AB)
22 Then Felix, who was well acquainted with the Way,(AC) adjourned the proceedings. “When Lysias the commander comes,” he said, “I will decide your case.” 23 He ordered the centurion to keep Paul under guard(AD) but to give him some freedom(AE) and permit his friends to take care of his needs.(AF)
24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus.(AG) 25 As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control(AH) and the judgment(AI) to come, Felix was afraid(AJ) and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.” 26 At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.
27 When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus,(AK) but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews,(AL) he left Paul in prison.(AM)
