Chapter 10

A Unique Sacrifice[a]

The Law Was a Shadow. The Law contains little more than a shadow of the good things to come and not the true image of them. These sacrifices that are offered year after year can never bring the worshipers to perfection. If they could, those sacrifices would no longer be offered, for the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all and would no longer feel guilty for sins.

Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All

10 The law is only a shadow(A) of the good things(B) that are coming—not the realities themselves.(C) For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect(D) those who draw near to worship.(E) Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.(F)

10 Ang Kautusan ay anino lang ng mabubuting bagay na darating. Kailanman ay hindi ito nakakapagpabanal sa mga taong lumalapit sa Dios sa pamamagitan ng mga handog na iniaalay nila taun-taon. Dahil kung napatawad na sila sa pamamagitan ng mga handog, hindi na sana sila uusigin ng kanilang budhi, at hindi na nila kailangang maghandog pa.
