1 God, that spake sometime by prophets in many manners to our fathers,[a]
2 at the last in these days he hath spoken to us by the Son; whom he hath ordained heir of all things, and by whom he made the worlds.
3 Which when also he is the brightness of glory, and [the] figure of his substance, and beareth all things [and bearing all things] by word of his virtue, he maketh purgation of sins, and sitteth on the right half of the majesty in heavens [sitteth on the right half of majesty in high things];
4 and so much is made better than angels, by how much he hath inherited a more diverse name [a more different, or excellent, name] before them.
5 For to which of the angels said God any time, Thou art my Son, I have engendered thee to day [I have to day gendered thee]? And again, I shall be to him into a Father, and he shall be to me into a Son?
6 And when again he bringeth in the first begotten Son into the world [And when again he bringeth in the first begotten into the roundness of the earth], he saith, And all the angels of God worship him.
7 But he saith to angels [And soothly to angels he saith], He that maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers flame of fire.
8 But to the Son he saith, God, thy throne is into the world of world [into the world of worlds]; a rod of equity is the rod of thy realm;
9 thou hast loved rightwiseness, and hatedest wickedness; therefore the God, thy God, anointed thee with oil of joy [therefore God, thy God, anointed thee with oil of gladness, or joy], more than thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning foundedest the earth, and heavens be works of thine hands;
11 they shall perish, but thou shalt perfectly dwell; and all shall wax old as a cloak [as a cloth],
12 and thou shalt change them as a cloak [as a cloth], and they shall be changed. But thou art the same thyself, and thy years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels said God at any time, Sit thou on my right half, till I put thine enemies a stool of thy feet?
14 Whether they all be not serving spirits, sent to serve for them [sent into ministry for them] that take the heritage of health?

How God dealt lovingly with the people of the old time in sending them his prophets, but has shown much more mercy to us, in that he sent us his own Son. Of the most excellent glory of Jesus Christ, who in all things is like his Father.
1 God in time past diversely and many ways spoke to the fathers by the prophets. 2 But in these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he has made heir of all things; by whom also he made the world. 3 Which Son, being the brightness of his glory and very image of his substance, bearing up all things with the word of his power, has in his own person purged our sins, and is seated on the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 and is more excellent than the angels, inasmuch as he has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For to which of the angels did he say at any time: You are my Son; this day I have begotten you? And again: I will be his Father, and he shall be my Son. 6 And again, when he brings the first begotten Son into the world, he says: And all the angels of God shall worship him.
7 And of the angels he says: He makes his angels spirits, and his ministers flames of fire. 8 But to the Son he says: O God, your seat shall be for ever and ever. The sceptre of your kingdom is a right sceptre. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, who is your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows. 10 And: You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands. 11 They shall perish, but you shall endure. They all will grow old as does a garment, 12 and as a vesture you will change them, and they will be changed. But you are always, and your years shall not fail.
13 To which of the angels did he say at any time: Sit on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent to minister for the sakes of those who will be heirs of salvation?

The Epistle to the Hebrews
The drift and end of this Epistle, is to show that Jesus Christ the Son of God both God and man, is that true eternal and only Prophet, King, and high Priest, that was shadowed by the figures of the old Law, and is now indeed exhibited: of whom the whole Church ought to be taught, governed and sanctified.
1 2 To show that the doctrine which Christ brought, is most excellent, in that it is the knitting up of all prophecies, 4 he advanceth him above the Angels: 10 And proveth by divers testimonies of the Scripture, that he far passeth all others.
1 At [a]sundry times and in divers manners God spake in the old time to our fathers by the Prophets: in these [b]last days he hath spoken unto us by his [c]Son,
2 [d]Whom he hath made [e]heir of all things, by whom also he made the [f]worlds,
3 (A)Who being the [g]brightness of the glory, and the engraved form of his [h]person, and [i]bearing up all things by his mighty word: [j]hath by himself purged our sins: and [k]sitteth at the right hand of the Majesty in the highest places,

13 Unto which also of the Angels said he at any time, (H)Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all [z]ministering spirits, sent forth to minister, for their sakes which shall be heirs of salvation?

- Hebrews 1:1 The first part of the general proposition of this Epistle: the Son of God is indeed that Prophet or teacher, which hath actually now performed that that God after a sort and in shadows signified by his Prophets, and hath fully opened his Father’s will to the world.
